Let's all take a stroll down memory lane shall we.
Forever Vice President Joe Biden did an interview with Oprah Winfrey for her 'Super Soul Sunday' segment on OWN and had this to say, "I regret that I am not president because I think there is so much opportunity." You know what Joe, we regret that you're not president as well, and I think as the months continue to go by and we're still dealing with Trump, a lot of people are realizing that regret as well. Joe then followed up with, "I don't regret the decision I made because it was the right decision for my family." Reminder for those who don't remember, Joe announced that he wasn't going to run for president less than 5 months after his son Beau Biden passed away from brain cancer. For anybody who's considering a run for president, he believes a person has to be able to answer a couple questions, questions that he had to answer himself while pondering his. "One: Do they truly believe they are the most qualified person for that moment? I believed I was. But, was I prepared to be able to give my whole heart, my whole soul and all my attention to the endeavor? I knew I wasn't." Brief thought: Totally 100% understand and agree with his decision to not run because he needed to tend to his family. I respect that he has the self awareness to know what it's never wise to enter into something when your heart isn't fully in it. However, Mr. Biden, I'll looking forward to your run in 2020. NOTE: he hasn't announced anything, but if you ask, believe, receive, it increases the likelihood that things will happen. So, I'm asking that Joe Biden runs in 2020, I believe he'll run in 2020 AND that he'll win the election, and we shall receive his name on the ballot in 2020.

**OBAMACARE ENROLLMENT BEGINS ON NOVEMBER 1ST**
UPDATE #2
UPDATE
ORIGINAL POST As stated above open enrollment for Obamacare starts THIS WEDNESDAY and here are a few things that you'll want to keep in mind:
Just something quick I wanted to share.
Governor Bruce Rauner of Illinois, has signed a new law that will make President Obama's birthday an unofficial state holiday. Starting next year, August 4th will be a day of honor to President Obama. The bill swept through the Democrat majority legislature. The day of honor is a way to recognize his efforts to protect Americans' rights and build "bridge across communities" according to the law. The day wasn't made an official state holiday due to the state's current financial troubles and concerns about giving state employees another paid day off. Brief thought: In my personal opinion, his birthday needs to be a national holiday for the fact that he was the 1st African American president and for all the good that he did in this country regardless of if people want to acknowledge it or not. Also, I'm not mad @ the state for making the date a day of honor instead of an official state holiday, I'm sure President Obama would prefer the state figure out their financial situation instead of giving employees a paid day off with money the state doesn't have. Hopefully, once they get things straight in the state, they can amend the law and make it an official state holiday. Lastly, there has to be a way we can sneak him back into the White House to fix the past 6 months! This shall be brief, I just wanted to highlight Trump's man child like mind.
While visiting Israel's main Holocaust memorial and museum, Yad Vashem, Trump left a message in its guestbook that's helped him catch more flack. "It is a great honor to be here with all of my friends....so amazing+will never forget! By stark contrast, here's what President Obama wrote in the Yad Vashem guestbook when he visited, "I am grateful to Yad Vashem and all of those responsible for this remarkable institution. At a time of great peril and promise, war and strife, we are blessed to have such a powerful reminder of man's potential for great evil, but also our capacity to rise up from tragedy and remake our world. Let our children come here, and know this history, so that they can add their voices to proclaim 'never again.' And may we remember those who perished, not only as victims, but also as individuals who helped and loved and dreamed like us, and who have become symbols of the human spirit." Brief thought: I don't think people should be upset over the message that Trump left because that's all his childlike intellect can handle. We can't expect him to behave and have the sensitivity and care of President Obama because they're on 2 completely different intellectual wavelengths. Trump doesn't have the capacity to show empathy, sympathy, or sensitivity because he doesn't have an empathetic, sympathetic, and sensitive bone in his body. So, no I'm not upset by this @ all because this is what we should expect from Trump. Sidenote: The message he left reminds me of how we used to sign our yearbooks when I was in school. Let's all reminisce once again...shall we.
Beloved Joe Biden was the guest speaker during Colby College's commencement and he reminded us of how nice it was to have a leader who spoke in complete sentences and spread positive vibes. "It's time for America to get up. It's time to regain our sense of unity and purpose. It's time for us to start realizing who in God's name we are. This past election cycle churned up some of the ugliest realities in our country. Civilized discourse and real debate gave way to the coarsest rhetoric and stoking of our darkest emotions." He also encouraged the graduates to get out, take risks, build bonds of empathy with others, and treat others with dignity. My only thought: Can we please either get Obama or Biden back?? I won't even be greedy and ask for them both back @ the same time! I guess in the meantime, we'll just settle for what we can get from both men. This is going to be very brief. I'm only doing this post because I just want to reminisce with yall about how good we had it for 8 years. Let us all be sad and remember the good times together!
On June 21st, Joe Biden, will be headlining the DNC's annual LGBT Gala in New York. Tom Perez, DNC Chair, noted that Biden will be receiving the inaugural LGBT Hero Award for his advocacy on behalf of gays and lesbians @ the dinner. Perez also had this to say about Biden and the work that he does, "Biden has been at the forefront of transgender equality, calling it the civil rights issue of our time." Sidenote: before people get all up in arms about the last part of what Perez said, you have to remember, majority of the issues that we seem to be in the midst of now, weren't as heightened when President Obama and Vice President Biden were in office, and @ the time gay rights was the big thing that they were working on. Brief thoughts: Remember when we had a competent president and vice president that actually cared about all people and not just the people that would benefit them the most? Weren't those good times? Don't you miss those 8 years? Lord knows I do! **Sorry, yall don't get your hopes up, Biden is still insistent that he's not going to be running for president in 2020. However, 2020 is still a longgggg way away, he still has time to change his mind! This is going to be a brief post, just something I wanted to share.
Yesterday, US District Court Judge Michael McShane sentenced John Roos (62) to 5 years in prison for making threats to kill President Obama over social media. He was also sentenced to 3 years of supervision to begin when he's released from prison. Roos admitted in court that he threatened to kill President Obama and his family via Twitter and he also posted on Facebook threats to kill FBI agents with hunting rifles. After making his admission of guilt, he also said the threats weren't serious. He plead guilty to charges related to the threats and other charges for possession of an unregistered explosive device. Brief thoughts: If the threats weren't serious, why did you feel the need to post them on social media? See, this is why social media pages are blog related only, on my Instagram there may be a couple pics of me, my dog, and my friends, but nothing more than that. People think they can say whatever they want via social media because they think nobody's watching or paying attention to what they're posting. Doesn't matter if you were joking or just venting your frustrations, making a threat of that nature is a felony and not worth it. For as much as I despise the air that Donald Trump breaths, I'm highly cautious about the things I say about him. I don't believe in censoring what I have to say when it comes to him, but I be damned if I say something that crazy cause 1. People are always watching when it comes down to the president and 2. Donald J. Trump isn't worth my freedom. Nobody is immune from facing Trump's wrath, not even the kids and their lunches.
"You have to stop and think, Why don't you want our kids to have good food @ school? What is wrong with you, and why is that a partisan issue? Why would that be political?" That was the question forever 1st lady Michelle Obama was seeking the answer to yesterday, while speaking @ the annual summit of the Partnership for a Healthier America, a nonprofit organization that works with public and private sectors to help end childhood obesity. "Moms, think about this, I don't care what state you live in. Take me out of the equation, like me, don't like me, but think about why someone is ok with your kids eating crap." What brought all of this on, you might be asking? Well, with all the craziness from the last couple of weeks, certain pieces of news get lost in the chaos and/or Trump purposefully hides when he makes certain decisions because he already knows how people are going to react. Last week, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue signed a proclamation relaxing standards for the upcoming school year in 3 areas, whole grains, milk, and salt.
After speaking @ the summit, forever 1st Lady Michelle, brought the point of her speech home via Twitter. "No one should play politics with our kids' health. We owe them." Brief thoughts: Trump is horrible person, who only cares about himself and his family. He clearly could give a shit about the children in this country since he's taking away healthcare that could help them fight through illness and ailments they're fighting through, and now he's reducing the quality of the meals they eat @ school. In some cases, these school lunches and breakfasts are the only meals these kids have throughout the day, and instead of making them as healthy as humanly possible, here comes Trump and Sonny Perdue pumping them with more salt and substitutes. I'm well aware health food is expensive, I'm an adult that pays her own bills and purchases her own food, I see the prices in the grocery stores, however in terms of these kids instead of granting exemptions for schools facing hardships, why aren't programs being introduced to ease these hardships while still making sure kids eat a well balanced nutritious meal? Hell, why aren't programs being introduced so that all Americans can eat well balance nutritious meals without it costing an arm and a leg? This doesn't surprise me in the least because Trump is a disgusting individual and how sad I got doing this post doesn't surprise me either, can Michelle Obama please run for president?? It was sooooo refreshing to do a post about an intelligent woman who genuinely cares about the well being of others, regardless of if they like her or not. I just want to start off by saying, this post already is making me so sad because I dearly miss what we had! 2nd, alot of people gave President Obama so much crap for getting $400,000 to do a speaking engagement, but he's putting his money to good use, and the people who were complaining and doing what with their money? Oh ok.
On Wednesday, President Obama was in Chicago hosting a community event @ the Obama Presidential Center, where he made an announcement about how he and Michelle are planning on helping the city of Chicago. "One of the things that we will be starting this year is Michelle and I, personally, are going to donate $2 million to our summer jobs program here in the community, so that right away young people can get to work, and we can start providing opportunities to all of them. We'll be working with the city, we'll be working with the country, we'll be working with businesses because part of what we want to do is reach young people who might be @ risk if they don't have something to do during the summers. But part of what we also want to do is to reach older youth who may be prepared for apprenticeships because one of the things that this project is going to do is generate jobs." **STANDS AND GIVES THIS EXCELLENT BLACK COUPLE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE!** This man is still working to improve the conditions of others even though he's no longer in the White House and doesn't have to do what he's doing. He could continue to go about his business and continue vacationing because he's deserved it, but instead he's giving back. GOOD GOD, I MISS THIS MAN! There are 2 things I wanted to really say @ the end of this post, the 1st being, many leaders have made it known that there's a crisis going on in Chicago, but nobody's coming up with solutions and actually implementing those solutions. This is a man who's coming up with solutions and backing them up with actions. The people of Chicago need people like President Obama in their corner to try and help them get out of this violent never ending cycle that they've been in. They need more people like him in their corner to let them know what somebody genuinely cares about them and wants to help them. There's enough talk about what's going on there, but there's not enough talk about what to do and how to "fix" it. 2nd thing, just like what I mentioned @ the beginning of the post. Some folks came out bitching about him getting that money. My thoughts about him getting that money, he deserves every single penny for all the bullshit that he had to go through for 8 years while he was president. And clearly, he and Michelle are giving money back to the community, sooo what's your problem? These people that were complaining need to shut the hell and show us the receipts of them giving back to the community before they start bitching about this man. I don't think I've ever been so excited for somebody to come back in the spotlight!
On my Instagram, I posted a video of President Obama making his 1st speech post presidency, but he did something prior to making the speech that I think is much needed. Yesterday (Sunday), President Obama met with @ risk boys and young men in the South Side of Chicago. He spent time with the boys and young men from the Chicago Create Real Economic Destiny organization. The organization is designed to provide job skills and employment opportunities for these @ risk young men and women. The organization was founded by his education secretary, Arne Duncan, who was also in attendance. **SEE THERE! HIRED PEOPLE ON HIS TEAM THAT KNEW WHAT THE HELL THEY WERE DOING!** Fun fact: he started his work as a community organizer there. I think what he did yesterday was SUPER important because it lets these young people know that they don't have to just be in the streets, gangbanging, shooting people, doing all the negative things that we hear about all the time in the news out of Chicago. He's obviously a very influential person and just for him to take the time to listen to their stories, share his stories, it lets them know that somebody genuinely cares about them and it's not that gang fake love. I appreciate that even though he's not in office any longer (OMG THAT HURT SOOOO BAD TO TYPE!) he's still going to be continuing the My Brother's Keeper program. He can't do it alone, so hopefully more influential positive male role models come forward and join his initiative to help curb that violence and all the other negative things that are going on with these young people in Chicago. Now if only we could squeeze him in for a 3rd term! |
