Here's what yall need to know about the gun bill the House just passed:
Brief thought: This just shows you how assbackwards America really is. So, instead of putting measures in place to prevent the repeated mass shootings, the Republicans and 6 Democrats put this in place?? I'm not surprised and neither should you because let us remember, this is the same party who's ok with little kids being murdered in their school and not doing anything to ensure it never happens again.

ORIGINAL POST This shouldn't surprise me, but it does. America in general sinks to a new low each and everyday, but some things still surprise me. So, a child in Georgia is being denied a kidney transplant from his father, who's been deemed a perfect match, simply because his father has a criminal record.....Yeah you read that right. 2 year old A.J. Burgess was born a month early and without a working kidney and now he could potentially die all because he has to pay for the sins of his father. His father, Anthony Dickerson was arrested in December of last year for violating his parole on weapons charges, then he was released 6 weeks later, however he was arrested again in September of this year for violating his probation again for possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies as well as for fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. The surgery was scheduled for October 3rd of this year @ Emory University Hospital and the hospital sent a letter to Gwinnett County Jail's solicitor officer asking if Dickerson could be escorted to the hospital for blood work and a pre-operation appointment. Dickerson was released from prison the day prior to the surgery and then received a letter from the hospital stating that the surgery was canceled. The letter also states, "The Living Donor Transplant Team at Emory has asked Mr. Dickerson for evidence of compliance from his parole officer for the next 3 months. We will re-evaluate Mr. Dickerson in January 2018 after receipt of this completed documentation." Since the story has gone public, instead of waiting until January, a decision regarding the situation is expected tomorrow. Brief thought: I think this whole thing is bullshit. We all make mistakes, some big, some small, but regardless, we all make mistakes and unfortunately sometimes other people have to pay for our mistakes. However, this is life or death for a little boy who hasn't done a thing to anybody. So, we're going to let a little boy potentially die all because his father made mistake after mistake? What the hell does that have to do with A.J.? Granted the father needs to get his ish together, but that doesn't mean the child should have to suffer because of it! Ever since Trump conned his way into the White House, we've been living in a world stupid and the stupidity continued today.
Rick Perry, Energy Secretary, spoke during an energy policy forum hosted by NBC News and Axios, where he said the following, "It's going to take fossil fuels to push power out into those villages in Africa. A young girl told me to my face, one of the reasons that electricity is so important to me is not only because I'm not going to have to try to read by the light of a fire and have those fumes literally killing people, but also from the standpoint of sexual assault. When the lights are on, when you have light that shines, the righteousness, if you will, on those types of acts. So from the standpoint of how you really affect people's lives, fossil fuels is going to play a role in that. I happen to think it's going to play a positive role." Brief thoughts: Soo, pretty much, spreading fossil fuels around Africa will stop sexual assault, that's it, problem solved. We've heard some stupid crap during these past 11 months and this has to be way up there in the top 5. Sorry Rick Perry, rapists could give a crap if it's light, dark, morning, or night, if they're set on violating somebody, there's not much that'll stop them. UPDATES
Like I always say with this administration, where there's smoke, there's fire.
ORIGINAL POST Something quick, I wanted to share because I had some thoughts on it. Steven Mnuchin, who's Trump's Treasury Secretary, confirmed that he requested to use a military aircraft to fly he and his new bride to Europe for their honeymoon....yeah, you read that correctly! This man wanted taxpayers to pay for this plane just to fly them around Europe, however he said the use of the plane wasn't about luxury, it was all about having "constant access to secure information and communication" because he's part of Trump's National Security Council. "Effectively it was a portable office, so I could be available and ultimately, we withdrew the request. I've never asked the government to pay for my personal travel. This had nothing to do with convenience. This was purely about national security."--Mnuchin further explaining himself @ a conference sponsored by Politico The cost for using the Air Force plane would've been roughly $25,000 per HOUR, which would be a drop in the bucket for Mnuchin who net worth is around $300 MILLION! The only reason Mnuchin withdrew the request is because he was told that it would look bad for a man who has a net worth such as his to travel @ taxpayer expense. Brief thought: Here's the thing, this doesn't surprise me in the least. Trump travels @ taxpayer expense every weekend because the White House is a "dump" as he called it, so it would only make sense for members of his administration to attempt to do the same. Let's keep in mind that Mnuchin and his wife are also the same couple who took a government jet to Kentucky for the sole purpose of watching the solar eclipse. After they were exposed, the couple vowed to reimburse the government. So, if they're taking government jets just to watch the sun pass between the Earth and the moon, regardless of how cool the eclipse was, nobody should be surprised that they would request to take a whole plane to Europe! Bottom line, he can claim the use of the plane was for work and remaining in constant contact with Trump blah blah blah, anybody with common sense will know that his explanation is a crock of bs! He wanted that plane, so that he wouldn't have to pay for his own plane, and he wanted to flex and show off for his new wife...period! Wanting to impress your mate is perfectly fine, but doing it @ the expense of others, especially taxpayers is just disgusting! Stupid is as stupid does.
An American male (41), who was in Dresden, Germany, decided that it would be a good idea to make the Nazi salute, also known as the "Hitler greeting," while drunk @ a bar....go ahead and take a minute to digest that because it gets better. According to deputy police chief, Lutz Milker, "He didn't say anything...just the salute. So far we have no explanation why." Now, we could easily just say 'oh he was drunk, he didn't know what he was doing.' I don't think that's the case because I'm a firm that a drunk tongue, speaks a sober mind. BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE! After the man tried to leave the bar, someone punched him and he suffered minor head injuries. He was treated on the scene by paramedics. The man's identity hasn't been revealed due to German law, however he was cited for making the salute, which of course is illegal in Germany. The state prosecutor will examine the case and then determine if he should be formally charged. Fun/Obvious Fact: German law forbids the use of the salute, along with uniforms and flags, unless they're being used for arts, science, research, or teaching. Brief thought: I don't condone violence in any way shape, form, or fashion, however when you do stupid things like this, you kinda deserve it. How stupid do you have to be, to be in Germany of all places, and then do the Hitler greeting. There's nothing I hate more than somebody who says what's really on their mind and then apologizes for it after catching heat for their idiotic statements.
Daniel Loeb, who's a billionaire hedge fund manager had the following to say on Facebook about an African American New York state senator by the name of Andrea Stewart-Cousins, all because she supports teachers' unions:
Here's his apology:
Now, I'm not gonna get into the background of the story because I don't live in New York, and I don't wanna fake it and make it seem like I understand what's going on because I don't. And the background isn't the issue here. There's 2 issues going on:
Lastly, don't speak on our struggle unless you're going to get it right and get it right the 1st time! Oh and I'm not buying your apology, you meant what you said the 1st time, or you wouldn't have said it! This just goes to show and prove that we're living in an ass backwards country now.
I'm not gonna do a long drawn out post about this because it's all just a bunch of bullshit @ this point and I won't dedicate a bunch of time on this blog to wishy washy Trump ass kissers. So here's what you quickly need to know about West Virginia Governor Jim Justice:
If you wanna know more about him and all he said @ this stupid rally, then Google is gonna have to be your friend because I'm not gonna entertain a man who can't make up his mind about what he believes in. Just 1 thing I do wanna say, he's switching to become a Republican despite the fact that Republican rhetoric and policies would make his state 1 of the hardest hit in the country...makes sense. Just something I wanted to pass along because I found it to be beyond disturbing:
Brief thought: Bottom line, if you see something, say something. I have a few things to get off my spirit.
On Monday, Michael Vick made an appearance on Fox Sports 1's "Speak for Yourself" where he had a lot to say about Colin Kaepernick. "I really think the stand that he took has nothing to do with him not being in the National Football League right now. To be frank, Colin didn't have the best two years these last two seasons."
"First thing we've got to get Colin to do is cut his hair. Listen, I'm not up here to try to be politically correct. Even if he puts cornrows in there. I don't think he should represent himself in that way in terms of just the hairstyle. Just go clean cut. You know, why not? You're already dealing with a lot of controversy surrounding this issue. The most important thing that he needs to do is just try to be presentable."
He attended to clear up what he previously said with the following statement--"Colin Kaepernick's hair has nothing to do with him not being on a NFL roster right now. Let's be clear! I wish only the best for Colin. I stand by what I've said about him being signed @ some point this season to help a NFL club."
Final thoughts: I have the utmost respect for Colin Kaepernick. I have the utmost respect for anybody who's willing to place everything on the line to stand up for what they believe in. If I was Kaepernick and another team wanted to sign me, I wouldn't do it because the league has proven that you can beat your baby mama/girlfriend/wife, you can do drugs, you can participate in the fighting and killing of dogs, but YOU BETTER NOT stand up for black lives. Also, hair is super touchy subject in the black community. It took me some time to free myself from what society wanted my hair to look like and I believe the same thing happened for Kaepernick. I do believe that he wears an afro because he's proud of his heritage and he's proud of being black, same reasons why I proudly wear my crown in an afro puff @ the top of my head. I would be disappointed if he cut his hair, but the good thing is I don't foresee that happening. Plus, I'm gonna be honest here, Kaepernick was always cute to me, but when he started sporting the afro, he became my new favorite player...sorry Marshawn Lynch! Bottom line: I also believe that sometimes it can take some time to find your voice and find the courage to go against the norm and speak up against things, this is Kaepernick's time. He might not have a job in the NFL and that's fine because the work that he's doing will have a greater impact that him playing football. Him standing up for the community is the type of leadership and the type of role model we need and not just in the black community. UPDATE
ORIGINAL POST I don't support Megyn Kelly after her stint on Fox News and all the nasty things she's said, so it's no surprise that I wouldn't dare be caught watching her show now that she's on NBC. Her upcoming interview with Alex Jones, who's nothing more and nothing less than a conspiracy theorist and the host of Infowars, gives me further reason to never watch and/or support anything she does. For those that don't know who Alex Jones is, consider yourself lucky! As stated above Alex Jones is a conspiracy theorist who believes 9/11 was an inside job and an evil person who believes that the Sandy Hook mass shooting was organized by the government. Many people, understandably are protesting this vile creatures appearance on her show, so much so that Kelly has had to come out and defend the choice.
Rightfully so, the families of those who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook massacre made their displeasure for Kelly's choice in guest known by revoking her invite to host it's charity gala, saying this:
My favorite part of when TV host make dumb decisions has started happening...her advertisers are starting to pull out. The most vocal so far is JPMorgan Chase with Kristin Lemkau, their chief marketing officer, saying this on Twitter:
Brief thought: Again, I won't be tuning in. I barely watch NBC now, I haven't really watched NBC since the whole Ann Curry fiasco because I thought it was disrespectful, but that's a story for another day. This just gives me another reason to not watch. I don't support giving people like this a platform to further spread their hate and nonsense. I'm not interested and I think it's a stupid decision on her part especially when her show is still so new on the network. |
