Here's what yall need to know about the latest school shooting:
Brief thought: For the love of God, how many times do we have to hear about these shootings before something is done? It's perfectly clear that kids being killed means nothing to these pieces of feces in Congress, since they refuse to put laws and regulations in place to prevent these things from happening. If the kids aren't safe, then obviously there's no hope for the rest of us.

Insanity
New Gun Control Efforts
Michigan Senate
Brief thought: Not doing something about the gun laws in this country is the textbook definition of insanity. Nothing is done, yet we're supposed to expect this mass shootings to not happen...that's insanity. And something needs to be done ASAP! Here's what yall need to know about the shooting that took place yesterday @ Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center:
I know I said I wasn't doing posts until tomorrow, but I wanted to get a few posts up before I start working on my other project again.
UPDATE
ORIGINAL POST I'm sure by now, you've heard that something happened in Little Rock, and here's what yall should know:
I've had this on my mind all day and I've been itching to do this post. I'm going to preface it by saying, it will probably make some feel uncomfortable, some will be pissed by what I'm going to say, and some will agree. These are purely my thoughts that I needed to get off my mind.
Let's talk about everybody's favorite topic! Gun violence in this country! What happened today to Representative Scalise was unacceptable and deplorable, bottom line, no way around it. Violence solves absolutely nothing! There's no rhyme or reason for it, it accomplishes nothing. Let's get that out the way before we dig in. What really got under my skin today was when Republicans came out and started blaming Democrats, like we all asked for this to happen, and also all the sudden outrage from Congress. Let's start with Republicans blaming Democrats. Yall sound ignorant and just plain dumb. These people are making it seem like we Democrats just all banded together and elected this person to go and do what he did. We don't know him! Majority of us do not believe in violence in trying to accomplish our goals, majority of us peacefully protest. 1 person's actions do not dictate the beliefs and/or define our political party. In my post updating the situation, I attached a quote from good ol Newt Gingrich where he said:
Let us not forget, the man who's currently taking up space in the White House said out of his mouth that he could stand on whatever avenue he said, shot whomever, and he still wouldn't lose votes, but we're supposed to follow his lead and example? I forgot, he didn't actually do it, so it doesn't count, it was just words, my bad yall! Let us also never forget that Trump incited violence @ his own rallies leading his mindless followers to become violent with those who decided to attend his events and protest in non violent fashion. Moving on to the next 1...
The fact that there are really people out there blaming the other side as if there aren't crazy people on BOTH sides is baffling to me. Folks on the right have threatened the lives of Democrat members of Congress and President Obama, but we're just supposed to act like that never happened huh? You're blaming an entire group of people who don't have the same intentions as this person and you really think that's helping? Sit down somewhere! Another thing, these people in Congress have got to be smarter and more humane when it come to the decisions they're making because they don't live in the world that we live in, they're not going to be affected by the negative decisions they're making like we will. You can't control other people's mental space, none of us know what it's going to take to set another person off. Remember the woman who chased the congressman and his aide because she was so upset that he voted for TrumpCare? Come on now! Is it right for these people to take the actions that they take? Of course not, however when you mess with people, their families, their health, and their livelihoods, just remember, you have no idea how it can potentially set a person off. My 2nd issue: where's all this outrage when innocent people, that don't have nice cushy Congressional jobs, are either injured or killed due to gun violence? We're supposed to all be up in arms now because a representative got shot? What makes his life more "valuable" and "notable" than the guy on the corner who gets shot while innocently minding his business? Is he better than the stranger just hanging out on the street that gets shot in the ass because he has a title? Is his life worth more than the student who gets shot while sitting in class trying to learn? I think not. Nobody's life in this country is better than, more valuable than, or carries more weight than the person next to them. PERIOD! Again, what happened to him is deplorable, but what's happened @ Pulse nightclub, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, San Bernardino, in the streets of Chicago, etc, the list goes on and on and on and on and on, is just as deplorable. I grew up in the country and there were shotguns in my family member's households, so no I don't have a problem with guns. I'm a firm believer in not telling others how to live their lives if it's not bothering me, it doesn't bother me 1 way or another how the next person lives their lives, but what I do have a problem with is innocent people being shot for no reason because this country has a MAJOR gun problem. I wouldn't be surprised if now we all of a sudden have debates about gun control, now that a male representative has been shot. Yes, there's a reason I made it clear that he is a man, remember Gabby Giffords, she was a female member of Congress who was shot @ an appearance @ a supermarket by a gunman, where was all this outage when she was shot? For god sake in the past 2 weeks or so, there have been @ least 2 incidents of gun violence in the workplace, where was the outrage then? Nobody has mentioned the shooting that happened today @ UPS in San Francisco, nobody's talking about all the innocent lives that are being taken from this Earth EVERYDAY in Chicago, nobody's talking about the countless numbers of random acts of gun violence that goes on every single day in this country, yet we're all supposed to be outraged and up in arms because this man with a title was shot. But what they don't realize and understand is that we've been outraged and disgusted for years. It didn't take this incident to incite that. Here's a list for those who need a reminder of why gun control is needed in this country, here's a list to highlight how long our outrage has been going on, here's a list of incidents highlighting situations that weren't worthy and/or deserving of gun control, here's a list of victims who's lives were just as worthy, deserving, equal, and valuable, just like Representative Scalise:

REACTIONS AROUND THE HILL
ORIGINAL POST By now, I'm sure most of you have heard about what's happened earlier this morning, for those that haven't, and for those that just woke up like myself, here's what we know so far:
I'm honestly on the fence about this situation.
A Torrey Pines High Student, located in San Diego, called 911 in the early morning hours of Saturday to request that officers check on the welfare of an unarmed boy in front of the school. Authorities would later find out, there was no other boy, he was referring to himself. 2 officers arrived on the scene and spotted a boy in the front parking lot of the school, when they got out of their vehicles, the boy drew a gun from the waistband of his pants and pointed it @ 1 of the officers. Officers then drew their guns while ordering him to drop this weapon, instead of following their orders, he started walking towards 1 of the officers. Both officers then started firing their weapons, striking him multiples times. Paramedics then took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The gun that the boy was pointing @ the officers was later determined to be a BB air pistol. Due to the boy being a minor, his identity hasn't been released. My thoughts: here's why I'm on the fence. In this situation, I can understand these officers feeling like their lives were in danger. I can justify it this time. I'm on the fence because I don't understand why officers shot to kill instead of firing to deescalate the situation. Clearly there was something going on with this young man to make him call the police to come check on him and then to point a gun in their direction. So, I guess I don't understand why instead of killing him, they couldn't have deescated the situation by firing him an area where it wouldn't have killed him or firing less than they did, so that they could see what was going on with him. I have a soft spot for those with mental illness because as some of you all know, I have depression and an anxiety disorder. So, I'm thinking about the situation from the standpoint that something was clearly going on with him and wanting to figure out what it could've been and how he could've gotten help for it, but that's not possible now. I just think instead of killing it, it would've been a good opportunity to try and get this young man some help, but once again I do understand them feeling like their lives were in danger, I just on the fence about their course of action. |
