Another post I wanted to do during the course of the week, finally getting around to doing it.
Welcome to Chapter 5 in the What The Hell Chronicles, this 1 is a head scratcher! Terrill Thomas (38), an inmate in a Milwaukee County Jail, died on April 24, 2016, after the water was shut off in his cell and his pleas to be given water were ignored. Inmates say they heard Thomas' pleas for water, but miraculously the guards can't seem to remember his pleas or deny that pleas were made to them. **side eye** Oh, important detail, Thomas was without water for an entire week and if anybody knows anything about the body, they would know that it can only go without food for 3 weeks and without water for up to a week before a person will ultimately die. *Sidenote, I'm aware some people by nothing, but the grace of God have survived longer than these time frames, but these are the general guidelines.* It's taken a year for prosecutors to launch an investigation to see if anyone if criminally reponsible for his death. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Thomas' death was a homicide in September. During her testimony on Thurday, Lt. Kashka Meadors explains how the water situation should've gone. "I instructed to have the toilet water cut off because he was flooding the toilet." Lt. Jeffery Andrykowski then testified that it's against jail protocol to have water shut off as a punishment. It's also important and worth noting that since Thomas's death, 3 other people, including a newborn have died in the same jail. Brief thoughts: 1st, how does a baby end up dying in jail? . 2nd, I know some people don't view prisoners as people cause of the heinous things some of them have done, but they are people too and they do have the right to the basics, food, water, and shelter. How is that this man begged and pleaded for water for an entire week and nobody can seem to remember these pleas? Somebody please answer this for me? I'm gonna call serious bullshit. These guards know damn well that he asked them for water, but are lying and having selective amnesia just to cover their own asses. 3rd, how did nobody know that the water was still shut off in his cell? As far as I'm concerned, all the people that came in contact with this man, and I'm sure it was more than 1, all have his death on their hands. I'm in no way an expert on jail and imprisonment, never been there, and don't ever plan on going there, but from what I've learned watching tv (don't judge my sources) and from many stories I've read and covered about solitary confinement, the prisoner is locked down for 22-23 hours a day, sometimes up to 24 hours, but for those that have the 22-23 hours, they are taken to go shower, and taken to an area where they can get fresh air, exercise, etc. So, you mean to tell me when they're escorting this man to go do the above things, he didn't tell the person who was taking him that he needed water? **side eye** Yall are going to have to do much better than these lies and this selective amnesia yall are displaying. ADDITIONAL INFO: I was looking more into this story and found some other things that I need to share.
