With all the madness of TrumpCare being passed in the House yesterday, this story kind of got swept under the rug, but I made sure it was on my list of things to cover tonight!
1st things 1st, I wanna start by saying, Donald J. Trump has no business being anywhere near anybody's religion and he has no business telling a woman what to do with her body. Yesterday before the passing of TrumpCare in the House, Trump, who was surrounded by religious leaders tht attended a morning prayer event in the Rose Garden, signed an executive order entiled, "Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty." This executive order does away with the Johnson Amendent, which bans tax exempt organizations like churches from political speeches and activities. His order also loosens IRS enforcement of the Johnson Amendment. **Sidenote: even though it's in the executive order, fully doing away with the Johnson Amendment would require action from Congress, who don't have time to deal with this because now they're dealing with a stupid healthcare bill.** And for all the women out there, his executive order also gives "regulatory relief" to corporations that disagree with the Obamacare mandate that required certain companies to provide female employees with no-cost access to birth control. Fun Fact: a previous draft of the order would've allowed federal contractors to discriminate against LGBT employees based on their religious beliefs. Quick thought: as always, who gives a crap (trying to refrain from cursing since it's a religious post) if women want to take birth control? Who cares? Shouldn't that be encouraged? So, these people would much rather women just walk around with a million kids hanging off of them regardless of if these women are able to take care of these million kids that she's had because she couldn't get birth control? Apparently being responsible and trying to do the right thing means absolutely nothing anymore. . Guess what, I take birth control, and will proudly continue taking birth control until I AM ready to bring a child into this world and I could care less what any religious person says or feels because you're not living my life and you're not going to be taking care of this child. If that's how these religious folks wanna live, no problem, do your thing, but just because that's your thing, it doesn't mean that us women who live differently have to follow your lead! There is NOTHING I hate more than when somebody tries to shove religion and their religious beliefs down my throat. Another thing, you mean to tell me that I can get my health insurance through my job, spend more time @ my job then anywhere else in my life, but they can't even give me free birth control? I make the CEO of my company a lot of money, but I can't get free birth control. Seriously...think about that. Also, why do these churches and other organizations want to get involved in political matters? It's not that exciting!
