I'll never cease to be amazed @ the stupid things that come out of people's mouths.
Last Thursday, Memphis defense attorney Steve Farese told a jury during a rape trial that women can be especially good @ lying because they're the weaker sex....yeah this jackass said that. His client is accused of drugging and raping a woman who came to his house for an interview for a housekeeper position. During his closing arguments, Farese flat out said the women was lying about sexually assaulted. He said the women was going to his client's house to have sex because she was wearing a halter top, it was a "sexy top, it was a contraption. She knew what she was going. She knew what she was doing." He made a statement with the Memphis Commercial Appeal the same day that he made the comment and said that "it's not his job to care if anybody gets offended and smart people will see if for what it is." The jury who were made up of 11 women and 3 men found his client not guilty the next day. My thoughts: I don't know anymore details about the case and in my opinion, nothing else about the case matters because what he said was disgusting. Are there women out there that lie and make it bad for those of us that don't lie, of course. Have there been women who've lied about things as serious as rape, unfortunately yes. But, suppose this woman wasn't lying? Suppose she was telling the truth. Why does her attire automatically mean that she was lying and that she had intentions to go have sex with this man? I'm playing devil's advocate here and trying to see if from both sides. Maybe she felt confident in what she was wearing, maybe she thought that it was just a housekeepers position, she's not trying to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, maybe she didn't think it was a big deal, hell maybe it was hot in Memphis that day! So, why is it that there could be a million reasons to explain why she wore what she wore, but this man automatically assumes she wanted to bang his client? Also, the hell does he mean women are the weaker sex? Lemme tell you something, women go through things that men will never experience and could never imagine. We grow tiny humans inside of us for months on end, over and over if we please and desire, we bleed for days on end without dying, we lose babies for unexplained reasons, we deal with men's bullshit voluntarily and involuntarily, we face discrimination day in and day out, we mature faster than men, we raise families all while trying to accomplish our hopes and dreams, we take care of you when you're sick (there's nothing worse than a man when he's sick), women are magical, powerful, resilient, and badass. Also, Attorney Farese a woman dealt with her body changing for 9 months, probably did a couple hrs of labor, and raised your ass, if that isn't strength then I don't know what the hell is.
