If people didn't wanna pack their bags and move to Canada, this news will solidify the deal.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Gov't will go into legislation to legalize recreational marijuana and should be made into law by July 1, 2018, according to an official. Once this legislation passes Canada will become the largest developed country to legalize marijuana. Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould said in a statement that the gov't is committed to introducing legislation that would "legalize, strictly regulate, and restrict access to cannabis. This will done in a careful way to keep it out of the hands of children and youth and to stop criminals from profiting." A marijuana task force has also been created to guide lawmakers and provide recommendations for the legislation. Thus far they've recommended that adults be allowed to carry up to 30 grams of pot and grow up to 4 plants, higher potencies should be taxed higher, weed can't be sold where alcohol and tobacco are sold, alcohol free marijuana lounges will be allowed, and the minimum age to be able to partake should be 21 due to brain development. A couple fun facts: In the US the only states that have legalized weed are California, Massachusetts, Maine, Nevada, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and the District of Columbia. Uruguay in South America is the only country that has legalized pot. I don't smoke, but I don't find anything wrong with this and I think the US needs to stop being so stuffy and follow their lead. Weed is much safer than alcohol and hard drugs, it has medical benefits, and it'll be huge for Canada's economy. I might move to Canada just so I can get a cut of all the money they're about to make.
