A little something I wanted to share.
Los Angeles City Council has voted to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day. The council voted 14-1 to make the 2nd Monday in October a day to celebrate aboriginal, indigenous, and native people. Fun facts: Many states and cities around the country already replaced Columbus Day with a form of Indigenous People's Day
Brief thoughts: I've never understood why we celebrate Columbus Day. He wound up here on accident and most importantly, he didn't even discover America! There were already people here! You can't discover something people already knew about! You can't discover land that people were already living on! But of course, in this country, we just love to celebrate men that have killed off others, brought disease to those who were already living here, etc. I support celebrating Indigenous People's Day nationwide.
