MAJOR update in the murder of Jordan Edwards:
Quick thought: now let's see if he turns himself in or if he'll make them arrest him. #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname #jordanedwards In a day full of craziness and foolishness, this made me smile, and I wanted to pass it along before I depress you with my Chicago report.
Trayvon Martin, who took aviation classes in high school, will be awarded a posthumous bachelor's degree from Florida Memorial University in aeronautical science. In an explanation on why the decision was made, the University, which is also home to the Trayvon Martin Foundation, posted this to their Facebook page, "The aeronaturics degree is in "honor of the steps he took during his young life toward becoming a pilot." Trayvon's parents, Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton (who's also an alumni of the University) will accept his degree during the University's spring commencement on May 13th. Quick thoughts: I thought this was a beautiful thing to do for not only Trayvon, but to also do for his parents because this school is giving them an experience they never thought they would have. The circumstances surrounding why this is happening will always and forever be tragic, but this is an amazing way to make sure that people never forget who Trayvon was, and not just remember what happened to him. He wasn't just a teenager that was murdered by an insane man that refused to follow basic instructions, he was a teenager that had likes, hopes, dreams, goals, your normal everyday teenager. Salute to Florida Memorial University! UPDATE
ORIGINAL POST As I made yall aware yesterday, the DOJ made their formal announcement today saying no federal charges would be brought against the officers that murdered Alton. There are a few additional things I think you all should be aware of:
Quick thought: I'm going to try to be optimistic and put it in the universe that the state will bring forth some sort of charges. #sayhisname #blacklivesmatter A couple updates have been made and announced in the case of Jordan Edwards and I wanted to of course update yall.
Thoughts: I just wanted to say how disgusting and deplorable it is that they took his brother into custody for no reason @ all and then held him there overnight with no explanation. I believe they did it to keep him from talking about what happened to cover for Oliver. Then, for him to not find out anything about his brother til the next morning, that's some sick shit! So, not only is this poor boy gonna be traumatized for life because of the situation and being in the car, he's gonna be traumatized because he went to jail for no reason, he was kept there against his will for no reason, he wasn't told anything about his brother, AND his father was held while trying to check on him and his brother. Way to go you jackasses! And then wonder why people feel the way they do about the police in this country! ALSO, how the hell are you going to detain their father for being upset. HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE UPSET! You murdered his son FOR NO REASON and you're also holding his other son again FOR NO REASON! He's entitled @ that point to raise hell! You really expect a parent who's concerned about their child(ren) to be calm after there's been word of a shooting and now you're holding my other son? Get the hell outta here! I hope everybody respects the family's wishes and holds their frustration and anger until they've had a chance to say their goodbyes and peacefully do the funeral, then if you would like to raise hell and protest, by all means, go for it cause this whole situation is some bullshit that should've NEVER happened. And I hope Roy Oliver gets everything that's coming his way. Jail time, endless amounts of guilt, and karma like nobody's ever seen cause you sir deserve that and more! #saytheirnames #blacklivesmatter ...sighs...once again, the video of the incident will be below, use caution before viewing because it is very graphic! **NOTE: I'm only sighing because this is the 3rd post in a row I've done about this subject and it's frustrating watching the videos of the incidents and watch men be murdered for no reason.** Tomorrow it's expected that the Justice Department will announce no charges will be filed against the officers that murdered Alton Sterling. In case you were buried under a rock last summer, here's a brief recap of what happpened:
My brief thoughts: I don't have any words. Actually, I do. When these situations happen, I, as well as others would like to be optimistic that justice will prevail and the right things will happen, but the outcome of this situation further proves our point that black lives don't matter in this country because we allow these people to get away scott free. However, if the shoe was on the other foot and a black man murdered a white man, they would bury our black asses underneath the jail so fast! I expect protests to occur in the city when the formal announcement comes out tomorrow, I don't blame the people of Baton Rouge, however it would be ideal if these protests are nonviolent and peaceful. #sayhisname #blacklivesmatter UPDATE #2
**Not surprising, but disappointing as always** UPDATE
ORIGINAL POST Now this is some foolishness and will be a brief post. During the retrial for the officer that shot and killed Sam DuBose during a traffic stop in July 2015, lawyers for Ray Tensing said that jurors shouldn't see the t-shirt with a confederate flag emblem he was wearing under his uniform. The shirt is below... ..sighs.. The video of the incident will be provided below. As always, proceed with caution, it very graphic, but important to see in terms of details about what happened. Lawyers for the former University of Cincinnati police officer believe that the shirt doesn't have any "evidentiary value" and should be excluded to ensure a fair trial. Per usual, Tensing said that he shot Sam because he "feared for his life as DuBose tried to drive away and that the shirt's emblem meant nothing to him." His first trial ended with a hung jury. My brief thoughts: listen, I don't buy anything that doesn't mean anything to me, whether it's clothes, food, electronics, etc, so I'm gonna call bullshit. Devil's advocate, does the shirt mean that he's just a vile racist, of course not, I went to high school with white people that had the confederate flag hanging off the back of their pickups, they wore shirts with the confederate flag on them, and I worked in a store that carried products with the confederate flag on them, yet I was friends with these people in high school and I never had any problems @ that job. Maybe, I'm bias because I grew up in the "south" and in the country. Now, does it look suspect on the day that you shoot and kill an unarmed black man, ABSOLUTELY! There's no denying that because you couldn't find any other shirt to put on under your uniform?? **side eye** Ok, sir. Another thing, I wanted to mention, just like in the case of Walter Scott, how are you fearing for your life, if the person is moving away from you whether it's on foot or if they're driving away? Can somebody answer that for me? He didn't have to get out of his car, that's his right, and I'm willing to bet he didn't want to get out of the car because he was afraid. In the video, it's clear that you were trying to force him out the vehicle because you opened the door and then you reached into his vehicle...for what? Also, you shot him in the head, after the struggle of you trying to get into his car, it's perfectly clear in the video! I believe that after he was shot, he went into shock of course, and then the vehicle accelerated forward before crashing. I don't believe him accelerating forward was a conscious move because A. you shot him in the head and B. in the video you can see his body go limp. AND THEN when other officers respond, you come up with some bullshit that he dragged you...where sir? You shot him dead, he had no control over the vehicle, soooo how sway? The only way you could've even possibly been dragged was because YOU decided to put YOUR arm in his vehicle, then YOU shot him dead, HE had no control over the vehicle, which comes back to being YOUR fault. Something I would like officers to understand, we as black people and/or people of color are more afraid of yall, then yall are afraid of us. #sayhisname #blacklivesmatter 12/7/2017 Update #2

ORIGINAL POST Hopefully, this is a sign of progress that can be made when these unfortunate situations happen. **The video of the incident will be posted below, WARNING it is very graphic, and for those wondering why I put the videos up, it's because I don't want people to ever forget about the violent way these folks died, I don't want people to ever forget about what these officers have done, I want people to be able to formulate their own opinions, but I also don't want people to deny what happened, and that's why I put it directly in your face.** Today, the officer who shot Walter Scott 5 times in the back, plead guilty to a federal civil rights offense. Michael Slager's guilty plea will end the federal case he was facing and do away with the state charges that were still pending after a mistrial was declared last year. For those that don't remember what happened, here's a brief recap of what took place:
Slager was fired after the shooting and then was charged with murder to which he plead not guilty. A mistrial was declared in December 2016 and another trial was to take place sometime this year, the federal trial was supposed to happen later this month. The Justice Department said in a statement that was released today that Slager "willfully used deadly force on Walter Scott even though it was objectively unreasonable under the circumstances." The Scott family is satisfied with the results of the day with his brother Anthony Scott saying, "We asked for justice, we received justice, we got it done. Today shows that unjust cops will not be tolerated anymore. Today he told the truth. He said he did it. The healing starts today." Slager has yet to be sentenced, which is @ the discretion of the judge. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. Brief thoughts: It would be nice if all outcomes wound up like this. Personal opinion, I actually think this is better than a trial because of course as we've seen numerous times before and even with this case, juries don't always do the right thing. Hopefully, the judge will give him the max punishment of life in prison because you took Walter's life, so you're life and freedom should be taken away. The bad thing is, in order to get here, the Justice Department has to bring forth the charges, which Jeff Sessions said the department was committed to doing (I just do not believe him nor do I trust him), then the officer has to enter their plea, and then take it from there, so just like with a trial by jury, it's a process and 1 wrong move in the process could hamper justice. I'm thrilled that Slager admitted his wrongdoing, if only more officers in these situations could do the same. I hope the judge doesn't take it easy on him just because he plead guilty. And I'm beyond thrilled that the Scott family believes they can now start the healing process 2 years later. #sayhisname #blacklivesmatter Ok, 1st, let's get into the timeline of events and then we'll get into other details that you should know
Timeline:
Things You Need To Know
My thoughts: what was the purpose of shooting @ these boys? Just why? Nobody misspoke during the press conference, it was just a blatant, flat out lie! This officer lied to you, his fellow officers, and his superiors. He lied to cover his ass just like the rest of them. And instead of doing your homework and investigating correctly aka looking @ the body cam before you open your mouth and say anything about the situation, you sided with the officer, immediately assumed he was right and telling the truth, and lied to the public. Call it what it is!! #sayhisname I've wanted to do this story for awhile now, but just haven't had a chance to get to it, so here we are.
40 year old Roger Scoby has been charged with 1st degree murder after befriending and then killing Ira and Tommie Moore on March 30, he's being held without bond. He met the couple through his job as a transport driver for a hospital. Tommie Moore had Alzheimer's and dementia; Ira Moore was a double amputee who used a wheelchair. According to prosecutors, Scoby created a friendship with Ira while on his job and the friendship grew into Scoby coming to their home and having a beer with Ira. According to police, on March 30th Scoby went to their home to drop off something, which wasn't unusual because Ira and Tommie had previously used his services as a driver to have him bring them food and medicine. Prosecutors state that Scoby shot Ira 1st in the back of the head with 1 of their guns, Tommie approached the 2 men, and Scoby then shot her and stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife. Scoby took the guns and left. The couple was discovered by their nephew who was living upstairs, He came down the morning after the murders and saw the knife still lodged in Tommie's chest. After being arrested, Scoby confessed to the killings, the murder weapon was found in his possession, and a beer bottle was found in their home with Scoby's fingerprints on it. When questioned about why he did it, he simply said, "he lost control." I wanted to do this story because it's heartbreaking. Here this disabled couple is thinking they made a friend who could help them do things that they had trouble doing and he turns around and kills them. It's sad and disgusting, he preyed upon these people who trusted him. To invite a person into your home is a very personal and intimate thing in my opinion and he just took advantage of that. This story is a perfect example of you have to be careful who you trust, but this guy gave them no reason to think that he wasn't trustworthy, so you never really know who you're inviting in your life. It's a scary risk that we all take when we meet people and introduce them to our lives. #saytheirnames |
