I just wanna start off by saying, I'm soooo upset I had to work yesterday (Saturday) and wasn't able to attend 1 of these rallies. I'm on this super weird schedule and my blogging schedule is all jacked up, hence all the catching up posts!
Dozens upon dozens of "woke" Americans took to the streets in 135 cities around the globe, including, New York, Washington, London, and Oregon to let Trump and his henchmen know that we're onto their bs and we DEMAND to know the truth about Trump's ties with Russia and we DEMAND that Congress force Trump to show his tax returns so we can see what he's hiding! Andrea Chalupa, who was the organizer of March for Truth had this to say about Trump and what's led up to the organization of the march:
Brief thought: I LOVE to see people from all walks of life come together for a common cause. As I always say, there are more of us that demand and want the truth, than there are of those protecting this manchild of an imbecile. We won't stop, we won't give up, we're not going anywhere, and we have no problem demanding this for the next 4 years if we're forced to. #theresistance #resist

Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered the commencement speech for her alma mater Wellesley College and she served us some shade without even having to say Trump's name!
Trump aka The New Nixon "We were furious about the past presidential election of a man whose presidency would eventually end in disgrace with his impeachment for obstruction of justice after firing the person running the investigation into him @ the Department of Justice. But here is what I want you to know, we got through that time, and we started to thrive as our society changed laws and opened the circle of opportunity and rights wider and wider for more Americans." Trump's America "Just log on, just log onto social media for 10 seconds, it will hit you right in the face. People denying science. Concocting elaborate hurtful conspiracy theories about child abuse rings in pizza parlors, undocumented fears about immigrants, Muslims, minorities, the poor." Trump's Budget "Look @ the budget that was just proposed in Washington. It is an attack of unimaginable cruelty on the most vulnerable among up...the youngest, oldest, poorest, and hard working people that need a little help to gain or hang on to a decent middle class lie, It grossly underfunds mental health and an attempt to combat the opioid epidemic. It puts our nation at risk. And to top it off, it is shrouded in a trillion dollar mathematical lie. Let's call it what it is. It is a con." Moving Onward "You may have heard things didn't exactly go the way I planned. But you know what? I'm doing ok. I've gotten to spend time with my family, especially my amazing grandchildren." She mentioned that long walks in the woods and organizing her closets have helped her move on, and she also went after my own heart by saying this, "I won't lie, Chardonnay helped a little too." Brief thoughts: This is another commencement I can support. It's good that she took all the necessary time that she needed to recover from the election. It was emotional and devastating for people like me, who as an African American and also a woman, were hopeful @ the thought of continuing the 8 years of progress we'd just had with President Obama and then were of the belief that we would have the 1st female president, it was devastating when that didn't come to fruition. So, I can only imagine she felt the way we felt times a million. I also love that she provided classy shade and didn't stoop to the vile, disrespectful, and dishonest levels that Trump does. I found this story on NBC while I was doing my research about Trump's NATO speech and I wanted to share cause Brussels is my new favorite city!
Once again, Trump was in Brussels to appear with other NATO leaders, the same place he called a "hellhole" last year! Needless to say when he arrived, people weren't jumping @ the chance to catch a glimpse of him. The minute he landed in the city, there was 9,000 demonstrators protesting his presence in their country. Some were carrying signs that said, "Get the hell out of our hole" and "Mr. Trump you are not welcome." Here's a couple of reactions NBC News got from some people around Brussels: "One thing is for sure, nobody is waiting for President Trump. People are not excited that he is coming. He's very unpopular in Europe. People don't think he's very intelligent. Brussels is a complex city and European society is different from American society and he doesn't seem to get it."--Lawrence Kerknawi, political consultant "I don't want to waste my time thinking about Trump. It's all show and no substance. I'm sure after calling the city a hellhole he'll come here and say, "it's fabulous."--Philippe Dekeysery "He doesn't know what he's talking about. I'd like to see him point out where Belgium is on a map. I'm sure he doesn't know where it is."--Claude Decorte "I don't think Trump is really a threat to Europe. There's a lot of blah, blah, blah, that goes on but not much action." Fun fact: Brussels is home to the NATO and EU (European Union) headquarters Brief thoughts: WHO KNEW BRUSSELS WAS SO SHADY??!! He received this type of "welcome," but still doesn't believe he should watch what comes out of his mouth! It filled my heart with joy to see another country react the same way we do when Trump does something or says something stupid! Trump is so boring and 1 dimensional that it's not difficult to figure him out, clearly the whole world has him figured him out! WELCOME TO THE RESISTANCE BRUSSELS! So much "winning" huh?
Today, a federal appeals court upheld the decision to deny Trump his Muslim Ban! Chief Judge Roger Gregory of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals had this to say, "The executive order in text speaks with vague words of national security, but in context drips with religious intolerance, animus (strong dislike), and discrimination. The opinion continues that while the president has power to limit entry to the country, that power is not absolute." Of course Trump and his henchmen aren't happy, THEY FAIL TO REALIZE NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR HAPPINESS, but here was their responses: "The Department of Justice will continue to vigorously defend the power and duty of the Executive Branch to protect the people of this country from danger."--AG Jeff Sessions "The country needs to use every available tool @ our disposal to prevent terrorists from entering the United States and committing acts of bloodshed and violence. As Judge Shedd's dissent notes, 'the real losers in this case are the millions of individual Americans whose security is threatened on a daily basis by those who seek to do us harm. We are confident the President's executive order to protect the country is fully lawful and ultimately will be upheld by the Judiciary." Brief thoughts: It's been turned down twice now, how many more times do you need to be told 'no' before it sinks in that you just need to move on and try and find another way to screw up this country??!! You idiots are completely missing the problem with this "law," nobody's ever going to be against making sure people don't come into this country that would like to do us harm, however we are against the blatant discrimination against an entire group of people, we're against the lies you expect us to believe by telling us it's not a Muslim Ban, when clearly it's only targeting 1 specific group of people, therefore it's a Muslim Ban. Instead of trying to ban this group that has many good people mixed in with some bad seeds, weed out those bad apples, and handle them, but leave the innocent and harmless people alone! #nobannowall Earlier today, Notre Dame had their commencement ceremony for their graduates and Mike Pence was their guest speaker..lucky them! **Sarcasm** Many students who disagree with Pence and what he stands for, protested by walking out of their ceremony. The walk out was orchestrated by the student activist group, We Stand For. The group posted to their Facebook page to invite others to join them in the movement. "We invite all students, families, and faculty who will be attending the Commencement ceremony to walk out with us as we take back our graduation and show our dissatisfaction with the University's selection of Mike Pence as honored speaker. We also will walk out in dignity and solidarity with all marginalized people affected by Pence's politics, both on this campus and throughout our nation." Kudos to them for standing up for what they believe in. Even when they were booed, they stayed true to their beliefs, and stuck with the movement. If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything! During his town hall yesterday in Houston, Representative Al Green (D-TX) played several racist and violent voicemails that were left on his office phone in response to his calls for Trump's impeachment. Green says he played the voicemails because he wanted his constituents to be conscious of the threats that he's received.
1 of the voicemails that he played went like this, "You ain't going to impeach nobody. Try it and we will lynch all of you." Another went like this, "You'll be hanging from a tree." He told the attendees of his town hall, "We are not going to be intimidated. We are not going to allow this to cause us to deviate from what we believe to be the right thing to do and that is to proceed with the impeachment of President Trump." Just as a memory refresher, Green made his feelings about Trump known Wednesday while he was speaking on the House floor and he said he believes Trump should be impeached because of the "obstruction of a lawful investigation of the President's campaign ties to Russian influence in his 2016 Presidential election." Brief thoughts: There's a lot more of us who believe that Trump is a horrible person, is a liar, is a danger to this country, and should be impeached, than those who blindly support this idiot. Yes the threats are a very serious thing, but I do have comfort in knowing that there are more of us than there are of them, and should any of them try to harm any of us, we can definitely take them. They can't get us all! This blog stands with Rep. Al Green! The statue of General Robert E. Lee was removed from his pedestal late Friday, much to the delight of the dozens of people who gathered to witness the moment.
On the same day that the statues were removed, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu had this to say about the signifance of the statues being removed, "These statues are not just stone and metal. They are not just innocent remembrances of a benign history. These monuments celebrate a fictional, sanitized Confederacy; ignoring the death, ignoritng the enslavement, ignoring the terror that it acutally stood for. After the Civil War, these statues were a part of that terrorism, as much as burning a cross on someone's lawn. They were erectedd purposefully to send a strong message to all who walked in their shadows about who was still in charge in this city."" **Mr. Mayor, you better speak that truth and shame the devil! Everybody give this man a round of applause for eloquently and accurately explaining why these symbols needs to be removed in this day and age!** What's next for the locations?
Kudos to New Orleans! #resist The last of 4 statues to be taken down in New Orleans will be done in broad daylight Friday morning, unlike the other 3 that have been removed without prior notice and done in the middle of the night. After the statue of Robert E. Lee is removed, Mayor Mitch Landrieu plans to make a speech explaining his reasoning.
The city will have extra security surrounding the statue and a 1 block radius will be blocked off around the statue to prevent cars from coming into the area before and during the removal just in case there are protests. City officials released this statement requesting peaceful protests, "Citizens have a right to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights to free speech and peaceful protest. We understand there are strong emotions surrounding this subject, and we ask that the public remain peaceful and respectful while demonstrating." The news release also had this to say about the future of the statues, "Offers have been received from public and private institutions to take individual monuments, proposals will be solicited on where they go through an open and transparent selection." Only nonprofits and governmental entities will be allowed to take part in the process, this process is only open to the Battle of Liberty Place monument and the statues of Davis and Lee, because of legal issues Beauregard's statue has to be handled separately. Also, anybody who submits a proposal to take 1 of the statues will have to describe how they will "place the statues in context both in terms of why they were 1st erected and why the city chose to remove them in 2015." They also can't be displayed outdoors on public property within the city. Aka if you want these statues, your money isn't enough, you're going to have to write a 10 page essay on the history of what caused these statues to be put up and why it's significant that they be removed now. AND you can't just display it on your front lawn or in the backyard! They're gonna make you folks that want these statues work for them! This will be very brief, just wanted to update yall on this.
Everybody join me in saying, Bye bye P.G.T. Beauregard! In the morning hours of Wednesday, masked workers in New Orleans took apart the horseback statue of Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard. Beauregard is the man who led the Confederate army in the attack that started the Civil War. Beauregard is the 3rd of 4 statues that have been scheduled to be removed, the last statue will be of General Robert E. Lee. Due to safety concerned, no date or time has been announced for the statue's removal. The plan for the statues will be to take them to a museum or another "appropriate" sit, "where they can be placed in their proper historical context from a dark period of American history," the city said. **Isn't that where I've been saying they need to be?? Make them pay to see their beloved statues and reminders of the past.** Regardless of the outcome, always and forever, #I'mwithher!
Yesterday, Clinton sent out an email to supporters and donors announcing that she's started a political organization aimed @ funding group dedicated to resisting Trump. The group is called Onward Together and is being used to "encourage people to get involved, organize, and even run for office." Onward Together also includes a website which descibes the group's goal as looking to "advance progressive values and work to build a brighter future for generations to come." "In some cases, we'll provide direct funding to these organizations. For others, we'll help amplify their work and do what we can to help them continue to grow their audiences and expand their reach," she continued in the email. A few groups have already been selected to either participate in the organization and/or receive funding from the organization, including:
Brief thoughts: Way to go Hillary! This is how you do your part to encourage the next generation of leaders! #I'mwithHer #resist |
