While looking into Trump's budget proposal, I came across some information about Natives of this country that should be brought to people's attention.
Trump's budget will harm the Natives of this country in the following ways:
Brief thought: It amazes me that Natives are still being fucked over all these years later. The "founders" of this country stole their land, murdered them, and any other heinous thing you could imagine were done to these people. They got screwed over 1st because they were here 1st. And centuries later they're still being fucked over...sounds familiar. I feel like we focus alot on other groups of minorities and the Natives are forgotten and it shouldn't be that way. These folks should be protected and funded more than anybody else, not just because there are treaties in place, believe it or not, but because they paid the ultimate price for America to be what it is today, yet they're still being screwed over.

For all those Trump supporters out there, just because he gets a pass by some people to act an ass, doesn't mean yall have the same privilege!
On a flight from Shanghai to Newark, Sunday before last, some man in a "Make America Great Again" hate decided he wanted to be 1 of those supporters that wanted to act an ass. Here's how the series of events goes: **Video of the incident has been provided below!**
Again, just because your fearless leader acts like an asshole, doesn't give you the right to follow suit. There may not be consequences to his actions just yet cause it's a process, but there are immediate consequences to your bullshit. To me, it doesn't matter if he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat or something different, there's no need or reason to be an irritant! UPDATE
This post is for my fellow Virginians. Just a little something you'll want to keep in mind as you're making up your mind on who to vote for in the election this year.
So much for that "great success" of a trip Trump keeps trying to shove down our throats.
Just in case you weren't able to fully gather how Germany and other European countries feel about the Trump administration, Germany's foreign minister, Sigmar Gabriel doubled down on their opinion. "Anyone who accelerates climate change by weakening environmental protection, who sells more weapons in conflict zones and who does not want to politically resolve religious conflicts is putting peace in Europe @ risk. The short sighted policies of the American government stand against the interests of the European Union. The West has become smaller, @ least it has become weaker. The Trump administration wants to terminate climate agreements, wants to enforce military action in crisis regions and won't allow people from certain religious circles to enter the US. If the Europeans are not resolutely opposing to this right now, the migration flow to Europe will continue to grow. Those who do not oppose this US policy are guilty." Brief thoughts: Well then, tell us how you really feel! He's 1000% right. Trump isn't just an American disaster, he's a global disaster of epic proportions. Again, his belief that science and climate change don't exist won't just affect the US, it'll affect the world. Trump signing an arms deal with Saudi Arabia is incomprehensible! Please do not ever forget that majority of the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia, but because Trump has business ties to Saudi Arabia, it conveniently was included in his bs Muslim Ban. Instead he included countries that have never killed a single America on our own soil. It's a damn shame when people in other countries can see the Muslim Ban for what it is and was, yet the the followers of this idiot in this country choose not to acknowledge what it is/was. I also agree that those who continue to follow and support this man has to take blame for the things that will ultimately happen because of his horrible decisions. Yall know what I find cringe worthy? People that have the potential of making a great point, but the execution of it doesn't live up the greatness that could've been.
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is currently overseas in Australia and he had this to say during an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corp:
Brief thoughts: I get where he was trying to go, it's just the execution needed a little fine tuning. Personally, I'm not sure that Russia compares to the atrocities that ISIS have displayed. Yes, hacking another country's election is a horrible thing to do, but killing millions of innocent people in the name of "religion" and "God" is 10x worse in my opinion. Nobody's killing innocent people in huge quantities in the name of Russia or to defend the honor of Russia. I think if he had said after ISIS, Russia is the biggest threat to the US, I could've fully supported his statement. The fact that Donald J. Trump who doesn't believe in science is in charge of removing this country from the Paris agreement on climate change is yet another thing that terrifies me!
For those unaware, the Paris deal was created in 2015 after 197 nations vowed to work towards limiting greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. Should Trump decide to remove the US from the deal, we will be the largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions. **Is that supposed to be 1 of those wins Trump keeps trying to achieve?** On top of being the largest producer, the US would join Syria and Nicaragua as the only countries not apart of the deal. Trump will be making HIS decision some time this week. Brief thoughts: Trump treats this country and decisions that need to be made like he's a damn dictator! What we think, what we want, and how we feel as a collective majority have no bearing on anything he decides to do. Just because this idiot doesn't believe in science, not only will we have to suffer the consequences of global warming, so will other countries. You know what, after the sentence I just typed, I can't even be mad @ our allies abandoning us. Please let us all remember that this jackass criticized President Obama because he was "worrying about global warming." He also called global warming, "a ridiculous situation." I don't have confidence that he's going to keep us in this important agreement because Trump just does whatever the hell his child like mentality tells him to do. I would actually be more shocked if he decided that we should stay. Other world leaders and the POPE have tried to convince him to keep us in the agreement, yet this idiot still feels the need to think it over?? UPDATE/ADDITIONAL INFO
ORIGINAL POST Just something quick that I wanted to share. Baltimore is looking to follow New Orleans' lead and explore the possibilities of removing their Confederate monuments. "The city does want to remove the monuments and could save money by auctioning them off."--Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh Brief thought: I'm all for the removal of the statues, I'm all for the money of the sales going back into the community, and hopefully the statues will be placed in a museum where people will have to pay to see their beloved statue and that money can also be used to benefit the community. Another quick post that I wanted to share.
After making changes to it's voter ID law, Texas legislature approved the revised version on Sunday, and have sent it Governor Greg Abbott. The changes include increasing the list of appropriate and acceptable IDs. IDs can now include passport cards, recently expired IDs, gun licenses, etc. Surprisingly, college IDs aren't considered an acceptable form of identification in the state. The revised version of the bill will also include allowing people without IDs to vote by signing an affidavit. Should a person lie on the affidavit, they could be charged with a felony. A judge has twice ruled the 2011 original version of the the bill intentionally attempted to suppress the votes of minorities. I know zen posts are a bit delayed because I was trying to catch up from when I took my much needed day off. Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here is your moment of zen before a week of craziness takes off!
A Pennsylvania man by the name of Shaurn Thomas (43) was convicted of murder and sentenced to a life in prison for the 1990 murder of Domingo Martinez, who was trying to cash a $25,000 check. Thomas spent 24 years in the State Correctional Institution in Frackville, Pennsylvania for the murder and last Tuesday he was finally released from prison and declared innocent by the Philadelphia District Attorney's office. Since Thomas was accused of the murder, he maintained that he was @ correctional facility for youth offenders dealing with another case on the day of the murder, but nobody on the jury believed him and conveniently the sign in logs from the facility mysteriously disappeared by the time of the trial. James Figorski however, did believe him. He represented Thomas pro bono (for free) and worked for years to prove Thomas' innocence. Figorski, a former Philadelphia police officer, took on Thomas' case back in 2011 while volunteering with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project. The Innocence Project is a nonprofit organization that works to either free or win new trials for cases they take on. This chapter of the Innocence Program has accomplished their goals for @ least 9 people since it was created in 2009. In an interview that Thomas did after being released he had this to say, "I feel wonderful, a free man. I can't feel no better. Hey man, just got to believe in God, and had the right legal team, and keep fighting. I don't got no animosity towards nobody. What for? Life's too short for that. I just move on forward. It's a tragedy that happened to me, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one." Brief thoughts: These are words that we all should live by. Life is entirely too short and uncertain to be walking around with hate in your heart, holding grudges against other people, and no matter what you may be going through, keep fighting for what you want and believe in. Welcome home Shaurn Thomas! UPDATE #4

ORIGINAL POST The trial into the officer that murdered Laquan McDonald and the justification that his lawyer put forth in court was semi shocking. I can't be completely shocked because this is how people who are apart of the problem really think. Daniel Herbert, lawyer for Officer Jason Van Dyke, said this during his argument to justify the officer's action, "Yes, it was an ugly shooting, ugly from the standpoint it showed a graphic image, not unlike most shootings were a policy officer shoots at an individual. The point is it was business as usual." He didn't stop there! He continued with, "If a firefighter arrives on the scene of a fire and climbs up on the roof and takes the ax out and cuts the roof open to ventilate the roof...are we going to charge that firefighter with criminal damage to property? Of course not. It's preposterous. You cannot be charged criminally for duties you are required by law to do." Brief thoughts: Sir, shut the entire hell up. You're comparing 2 entirely different things. 1 doesn't involve taking a person's life and the other involves an officer shooting a teenager 16 times. It's business as usual for an officer to shot another person 16 times? Sure, since the young man was hold a knife, I can semi understand firing once in a location of the body that wouldn't kill him in order to incapacitate him, but emptying his gun 14 seconds or less is beyond excessive. I'm sure if the firefighter had to cut open the roof and there was video of it, there wouldn't be any hesitation to release the video of him doing so, there was blatant refusal to release the video of this incident. To call this young man's death business as usual is disturbing to me and to say that police shooting other people is business as usual is also disturbing. Where does it say that police can go around shooting people and it be business as usual? I thought business as usual was protecting and defending the citizens they're supposed to be trained to protect. I thought business as usual was diffusing situations in appropriate manners and not using excessive force. So, pretty much what I've gathered from his words is that if an officer shoots another person instead of finding another way to handle the situation it's just business as usual. So, remember ladies and gentlemen, the next time an unfortunate incident like this should happen, we're not to be alarmed or outraged because it's just business as usual. #blacklivesmatter #sayhisname |
