I'm still very confused as to what exactly Ivanka Trump is doing in this position that she has.
Ivanka Trump met with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards a couple days after the inauguration. "The purpose of the meeting from Planned Parenthood's perspective was to make sure that Ivanka Trump fully understood the important role Planned Parenthood plays in providing health care to millions of people and why it would be a disastrous idea to block people from accessing care @ Planned Parenthood," Planned Parenthood said in a statement. Pause: why the hell are we trying to get Ivanka to understand the importance? I would like to think as a women she would understand, but you never know when it comes to the people surrounding Trump. She's not the president and clearly he doesn't listen to a word she has to say, so even if she did understand, it wouldn't change his mind and unfortunately he's the president. Planned Parenthood has also said they'll hold Ivanka accountable for her father's policies on women's reproductive rights. As they should! She volunteered to sit down with them, she's connected to her father as his adviser, I'm sure she went back to brief him, so you will be held accountable. Cecile Richards also had this to say, "anyone who works in this White House is responsible for addressing why women are in the cross hairs of basically every single policy we've seen in this administration." I agree with this as well, you work close to this man, you're supposed to have his ear, you're supposed to communicate and brief him on things, you hold some level of responsibility right along with him. Clearly their meeting didn't help because Trump and a bunch of men that have no business telling women what to do with their bodies, are still only trying to provide funding for Planned Parenthood if they stop abortion services. Why do you care if a woman wants to get an abortion?? That's her decision not yours! It's not your baby, so why do you care?? A bunch of men sitting around trying to get rid of an organization that does so much more than just abortions! Don't believe me? Here's a list of just a few things they do:

"Birds of a Feather Flock Together" That saying has never been more true than when I read this.
Trump is defending Bill O'Reilly amid reports that O'Reilly settled his sexual harassment claims with the help of Fox News to the tune of $13 million. "I think he shouldn't have settled, personally I think he shouldn't have settled. Because you should have taken it all the way. I don't think Bill did anything wrong. I think he's a person I know well, he is a good person," Trump said to The New York Times. Are we supposed to be surprised that he feels this way? Hell no! Why would we expect the man who said to "grab them by the pussy" and the man that vowed to sue each woman who came out and announced that he'd sexually harassed them during his campaign because they were taking attention away from it, to feel any differently? Trump doesn't respect or value women, he hates women and Bill O'Reilly is not a good person. Any man, woman, or human being that would sexually harass or verbally abuse another person, regardless of their gender is a terrible person! Trump has no morals, he has no heart, he has no common sense, and asking him to be disgusted by the things that O'Reilly has said and done is a waste of thought, waste of breath, and a waste of time. And where is your adviser daughter that's supposed to be keeping you in line?? I'm confused and maybe somebody could help me sort all of this out, but I've heard murmurs of Bill O'Reilly being accused of harassment towards women for the longest time, so why is it just now blowing up?
On Sunday, The New York Times reported on settlements totaling $13 million had been reached with women who've accused Bill O'Reilly of verbal abuse and sexual harassment, As a result of this report, BMW of North America, Hyundai, and Mercedes Benz will no longer be airing ads on "The O'Reilly Factor." In response to the report, 21st Century Fox said they, "take matters of workplace behavior very seriously," but they're still standing by O'Reilly. Of course they are cause he's their cash cow. They also said, "none of the women used the company hotline to report any inappropriate behavior." So, since they didn't use the hotline that automatically means it never happened right? Also, you clearly don't "take matters of workplace behavior very seriously" if the person who's doing the behavior is still there and you're paying the victims off, that's not how you fix the problem. And did if ever cross your minds that these women don't want to come forward because they're afraid they're going to be fired for being honest? Women still employed with Fox News are hopeful that a federal investigation into whether 21st Century Fox mislead investors by hiding payments to former Fox News Chief Roger Ailes' accusers, will make the company come up with better ways to combat inappropriate behavior and sexual harassment....one can only cause it's a damn shame that women have to come to work and be afraid that this creep is going to harass them and feel like they can't say anything because he has more leverage in the company than they do. Paying off victims isn't the way to fix the problem and would say the company money, but the alternative would cost them their most popular on air personality, so basically money is more important than women feeling safe in the workplace, sounds like the status quo. © Shelma1 | Dreamstime.com - Equal pay day design. Today, April 4, 2017 is Equal Pay Day. Some of you may not have even known this was a thing, so here are some fun facts about how this day came about.
Fun facts on how previous presidents have tried to bridge the gap
Things to keep in mind moving forward
Why does Donald Trump hate women so much?
Trump recently signed an executive order without all the fan fare that we've come to expect from him. The executive order apparently signed on March 27, revokes the 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Order that was put into place by Pres Obama. This order ensured that companies with federal contracts comply with 14 labor and civil rights laws. The Fair Pay order came about after an investigation was conducted that showed companies were being awarded millions even after violating many of the labor and civil rights laws. It included 2 rules that impacted female workers greatly: 1. Required paycheck transparency and 2. Banned forced arbitration clauses for sexual harassment, sexual assault, or discrimination claims. Trump's new executive order will make it possible for businesses to continue forcing sexual harassment, sexual assault, and discrimination cases into secret proceedings where the public and other employees may NEVER find out these claims @ these companies. There's also now no guarantee that women will be paid the same as men for doing the exact same work because the Fair Pay order forced employers to submit salary details to the gov't and show overtime and decuctions on paychecks so employees could make sure they were being paid what they should be, Fun Fact: Women earn 16.8% less than median pay for men---> women earn 0.83 to a man's dollar. Why is it such a bad thing to make sure people not only earn a livable wage, but also make sure women earn the same thing that men earn? And if it bothers you so much that you would change it for an entire nation, I can only imagine how you pay the women in your companies. I know many of yall have seen her, the powerful little 4 foot tall, ponytail wearing girl with her hands on his hips, fearlessly staring down a bull.
She's called the "Fearless Girl" and she'll be staring down the Wall Street bull @ least until February 2018. She was set to be moved on April 2nd, but thanks to more than 50 NY politicians coming forward to present Mayor Bill de Blasio with a signed letter to make her a place there permanent. She was created by artist Kristin Visbal and installed by State Street Global Advisors. She found her rightful place ahead of International Women's Day to bring attention to gender pay gaps and the lack of gender diversity on corporate boards int he financial sector. NY Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney said the Fearless Girl was "created to inspire and personify the resilience of women everywhere." I thought she was going to permanently be there and it's a little disappointing now knowing that she won't be. It's a very powerful thing to see pictures of her and other women and even little girls posing alongside her. Hopefully another replica of the Fearless Girl can be made to go in her place once this one finds her new home. Hillary Clinton is ready to step a little further into the spotlight to help Americans find common ground.
During a St. Patrick's Day speech, she let us know she's feeling the same way a lot of us are feeling, "I'm like a lot of my friends right now, I have a hard time watching the news." Side note: after the election, I took the stance that I wasn't gonna watch the news until we were done with this man and I'm glued to the news because I'm nosy and I like to be informed, but that would make me apart of the problem. I had a tough time tuning into the news after the election, I think I was stuck in a state of shock and disbelief, but 1 day I changed my mindset, and now I have this blog to keep yall informed, so yall don't have to watch the news! Back to the reason behind this post... Also during her speech, she urged the country to work together to solve problems and said it's up to the us citizens and not Washington to bridge the political divide (because they have no clue what they're doing in DC right now). Another side note: that's another reason behind this blog. I know people who have differing views than mine aren't gonna immediately come over to my side of thinking, but my goal is to always bring you the truth behind what's going on, so you can formulate your own opinion, and see that I'm right...joking...I think. "I am ready to come out the woods and to help shine a light on what is already happening around kitchen tables, at dinners like this, to help draw strength that will enable everybody to keep going," she triumphantly said. The reference "coming out the woods" is from when she was spotted by a mother and daughter taking a walk in the woods with her dog near her hometown of Chappaqua, New York, a couple days after she WON the popular vote, but the unnecessary electoral college stole the election from her. When speaking on her time in the woods, she said she wanted to stay in the woods, "but you can only do so much of that." It's still a little painful to think about what could have been if the popular vote actually mattered, but if she's ready to lick her wounds and come back to the spotlight, I'll follow her lead. Welcome back Hillary Clinton. As many of you all know, yesterday was the "A Day Without Women" strike. Women were encouraged to stop all work, paid and unpaid. Women that wouldn't be able to participate by not going to work, as well as men were encouraged to wear red and only spend money at women and minority owned businesses. The goal of the strike was to draw attention to wage gaps between men and women, job insecurity, workplace harassment, and inequalities women face that men don't. Sounds simple enough right?
Well, this strike created a couple of controversies leading up to today. Multiple school districts closed for the day due to many teachers and staff requesting to have the day off to participate in the strike. This move was celebrated by some and of course criticized by others for leaving working moms and families to figure out childcare. People were upset that some school districts decided so last minute to close, the last minute decisions created problems such as: childcare options weren't available and some kids weren't going to be getting the breakfast and lunch that they depend on from the school. Prince George's County in MD decided Tuesday night that they were going to closed because they wouldn't have enough teachers and staff to run the schools/school districts (I'm going to assume there weren't enough substitute teachers to cover the teachers that weren't going to be there). Pause, before we go any further, I can understand these parent's being pissed off, some of them are single parents or both parents have to work to pay the bills, so since the decision was made so last minute, the parent(s) would have to stay home, and miss out on much needed money if a sitter couldn't be found. Valid reason to be pissed. Same reasons for frustrations were found in Alexandria, VA, big difference which I think should be applauded is, support staff served the ever important breakfast and lunch to kids in the district. Another thing that had some upset, was the feeling that the strike was designed only for those who had the means to be able to take the day off. My thoughts: I think the strike was a good way to highlight how important women are to everybody's everyday lives. I think inconvenience was a big part of making the strike successful because without women people's lives would be inconvenienced, there's no way around that being a fact. I do believe that these school districts could've done a better job of making parents aware of their plans to close in advance, but that's all apart of the inconvenience factor. I think what was done in Chapel Hill, NC as far as doing head counts to see who was going to be there was a clever thing to do and something all school districts should've done and should do when these strikes and marches come up. Then, after the head count was done, if the decision was made to close, they could've planned to bring in substitute teachers or caregivers to watch the kid belonging to parents that couldn't miss work and had no other childcare options. Planning is key in everything we do in life. It's important for people to show up to these demonstrations, that's the only way our voices will be heard, and things will change, however you do have to consider and look @ all sides of the planning process to make sure obstacles don't get in the way of people being able to show up and show out. Regarding it seeming like only people of means could participate, in a way I think that has some truth to it, but there were other ways to participate. For me personally, I had to go to work, but I wore my red to show my solidarity. My coworkers that had to be @ work and could've take the day off, wore red as well, so when we saw each other, we knew the other was showing their support for the movement. Let's be real, most women in this country due to the wage gap, due to the inequalities, and due to the lack of job security aren't in a position to just take a day off. I do think the organizers of this strike took that into consideration and that's why the options to wear red and not spend money unless @ women and minority owned businesses came about, to give people who couldn't just take the day off options to show their solidarity. In the words of James Brown, "This is a man's world, but it would be nothing without a woman."
In just one more day, droves of women are once again going to make sure their voices are heard by participating in a Women's Strike coordinated by the same organizers that brought the powerful Women's March together. On Wednesday, March 8th, women are encouraged to not work regardless of if it's paid or unpaid, are encouraged not to shop unless the establishment is miniority and women operated, and make their support visible by wearing red. Women are also being encouraged to give their employees a paid day off. Even though the strike hasn't even happened yet, it's already gaining a lot of attention for the impact it's having on a couple of school districts. Multiple schools will be closed on Wednesday because there simply won't be enough teachers and staff members to run the school districts. **Public schools in Alexandria, VA (come through VA and show 'em how it's done once again!) will be closed after just about 300 teachers and staff members requested the day off. **Head counts were performed in Chapel Hill, NC to get an idea of how many teachers and staff members would be in attendance on Wednesday, it was determined closing schools would be the best course of action. **Maple Street School, a preschool in Brooklyn will be closed (backup daycare will be provided to those that need it) after sending parents letters to give them the heads up in advance that the school would be participating in the strike. **The New School in New York will also be closed after a group of 20 women encouraged their colleagues to show their support and stay home as well. **Lastly, @ UC Berkeley, 30 professors will either go against the grain of conventional classes that day or take their classes to a demonstration that'll be occurring nearby. **Teachers who've come forward saying that can't miss their classes because they'll more than likely be fired, will show their support by wearing red and teaching a special lesson about women's history. This is fabulous! Easy way to hurt somebody is to hurt 'em in their pockets. It's no secret, women loveeee to shop, I should know cause I'm one of them! Men hate shopping and will do just about anything to get out of it and avoid it. If we keep our coins to ourselves, think about the impact it'll have on the businesses we frequent most often. Yeah, this'll be an inconvenience to some parents, but hopefully mothers and fathers can stay home with their kids and teach them the importance and the significance of the day. But, that's the whole point in this, if you don't inconvenience people, nobody learns or takes notice of what's going on. You have to throw people off their game and take them out their norm to make them notice. Hopefully, on Wednesday the world will take notice of exactly how much women contribute to society and how much we're needed. I unfortunately won't be able to take the day off, I'm very upset that I won't be able to take the day because I would LOVE to attend a demonstration, however I will be wearing red to show my support. Rep. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, you are apart of the problem sir. If you didn't watch the Address to Congress last night, then you missed a beautiful display of togetherness from women. A group of Democratic delegates and representatives who are apart of the House Democratic Women's Working Group donned white to make their support of several women's issues, (healthcare, equal pay, Planned Parenthood/reproductive rights, child care, paid family leave, etc.) visible.
The idea stemmed from the women's rights movements that occurred in the 1900s where women wore white as a sign of purity. While partcipating in a radio town hall on Wednesday, this Republican lawmaker by the name of Kevin Cramer, had the audacity to be disrespectful and say these women were poorly dressed by wearing bad looking white pantsuits. He included a part about these women wearing white pantsuits in solidarity with Clinton (she wore white while making her speech @ the DNC), I'm not gonna include that because the reason they wore white is so much bigger than that. 1st and foremost, these women looked beautiful in their white. 2nd, if this ignoramus did his homework about that history of the women's movement he would know this display meant so much more than just Hillary, but of course he has the gift of white man privilege, so why bother worrying about the struggles of others that don't look like him. They wore white because of the man you support and men like you sir. The man you support is trying to take away the rights of persons of color, the rights of Muslims, the rights of those who love the same sex, and the rights of women. The audacity of you to mock these women and make fun of their appearance. I bet your wife and daughters must be so proud and if they find no issue with the remarks you made, they're apart of the problem as well. Now, I could go into detail about how you're not the most appealing person to look @, how your fashion choices (some have posted photos of his fashions online after making these remarks) are appalling, but we won't go there. These women looked graceful, beautiful, powerful, unified, and that's exactly what this country needs right now, not more of pathetic, disgusting, dividing persons like you. It does make sense though, nobody even knows who you are or that you exist, so you have to be disrespectful just to get an ounce of attention, mission accomplished I suppose, but is being labeled a sexist pig really the kind of attention you want while you're looking @ running for a seat in the Senate? Perhaps so cause the man you support and bow down to is a known sexist and racist pig and somehow he's found his way in the White House. |
