It's about time we start to catch up with other countries around the world that offer tuition free education.
New York is set to become the 1st state in the country to make tuition free @ public colleges and universities for middle class students. The proposed plan is set to be included in the new state budget that was approved Sunday by the state senate and Gov. Andrew Cuomo has estimated that it was cost $163 million to implement. A few things to keep in mind about the plan:
I think this is fantastic and I'm eager to see if spread across the country because it should be against the law for people to be in debt until the day they die just to go to college and want a better life. Fun facts:

I think it's interesting that the man who's in "power" has so much to say about a man who's doing more than him.
Trump once again being the petty individual he is, decided to throw shots @ NFL player Colin Kaepernick, heaven forbid if he had more important things to handle. Trump was @ a rally in Nashville and said something along the lines of Kaepernick not yet being picked up by any teams because the teams didn't want to get any nasty tweets from Trump. **sighs and rolls eyes** Yes, you are a bully sir, we're well aware of that, we're all thrilled that that excites you, but please stop thinking that you're that important and you carry that much weight to stop a man from being picked up by a sport's team, STOP IT! The only reason why this man isn't being picked up by teams is because of he wouldn't stand for the anthem, that has nothing to do with you! Trump has described Kaepernick as disrespectful for not standing for the national anthem, called Kaepernick's protest sad, and said Kapernick should go to another country if this one isn't good enough for him. **sighs and rolls eyes again** Sir, you're so deep into your own world of delusions that you can't even take the time to understand the meaning of what he did. He did not stand because that's his 1st amendment right 1st of all and 2nd, he wasn't going to show respect to a country that shows no respect for the lives of minorities. The fact that you can't take a minute to come outside your box and understand the meaning is sad. Lastly, Kaepernick doesn't need to go anywhere, the whole point was to bring attention to this country about the injustices that still go on in this country. Sidenote: I supported his protest, found nothing wrong with it, and still find nothing wrong with it. Now, here's the beautiful thing about Colin Kaepernick, I like football just as much as the next blue blooded American, but I don't have a team that I root for every Sunday, so players have always been whatever for me, but Kaepernick might go down as my favorite player, regardless of if he gets picked up by another team, purely and solely because I respect him as a man and as a beyond decent human being. Examples of him being a beyond decent human being include, him being a part of the group that's already raised $2 million for the hunger relief in Somalia, him donating $25,000 each to Black Veterans for Social Injustice, 350.org, Center for Reproductive Rights, and the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights. SINCE OCTOBER ALONE: he's donated $100,000 to programs dedicated to improving the lives of veterans, the poor, minorities, women, and immigrants. Regardless of if this man ever tosses or kicks a ball, he's doing things that truly matter and impact the world that we live in. He's doing what he was placed on this Earth to do and who knows maybe this is truly his calling. He's good with or without football cause the good that he's doing is going to bring him abundant blessings. He stood (no pun intended) for something that matters to him and a lot of people and I'm sure he can live the rest of his life with no regrets for that. Mr. Trump, what have you done for any of these groups lately besides try to take away their health insurance, take away their meals, and take away the programs that ensure them a better quality of life. Until you can show and prove that you care about the people of this country, just shut up! And don't you criticize another person who's doing wayyyy more than you've probably ever done in your life! Salute, support, and respect to Colin Kaepernick! Quick update cause this is super important and amazing!!
A couple posts ago, I made you all aware of the group of celebs that are raising money to aid Somalia with their hunger crisis, well as of Friday, they've now raised $2 million! Here are a couple more updates:
As updates come along for Somalia and hopefully for the other countries that are affected, I'll defintely put those updates here! Donations are still being accepted through The Stiller Foundation and via the group's GoFundMe page, LoveArmyForSomalia #LoveTrumpsHate Love for one's fellow man will always Trump hate, these celebs, and the power of social media are proof of that.
Colin Kaepernick, Ben Stiller, Vine and Snapchat star Jérôme Jarre, and CNN's Casey Neistat, all came together to raise $1 million in 19 hours to help those facing starvation in Somalia. How in the world did they accomplish this so quickly? According to Neistat, it all started when Jarre recorded a message on Twitter in which he pleaded with Turkish Airlines to fill just 1 of their flights with food and provisions. The tweet of course went viral, Stiller then recorded his own message after hearing Jarre using Turkish Airlines to take action, Kaepernick along with other social media starts followed their lead, and from there it continued to take off. The magical part of it all, Turkish Airlines actually responded and they've pledged to make available a full cargo flight that has room for 60 TONS of food! Turkish Airline has also said they'll allow the group to ship food containers on their commercial aircraft to Somalia until the crisis has ended. Once the plane was secured, the group launched a GoFundMe page, entitled Love Army for Somalia. Donation are also being accepted through The Stiller Foundation and the American Refugee Committee will be coordinating food distribution on the ground. The 1st flight is scheduled to take off in 10 days with rice, flour, cooking oil, and other basic provisions. "We've proved how much our power doesn't mean much individually, but has the potential to move mountains (AIRPLANES!!!) when we UNITE!" the group wrote. "We're committed to making sure Somalia has the relief they need." CLAPS FOR THIS GROUP, CLAPS FOR TURKISH AIRLINES, AND CLAPS FOR EVERYBODY'S THAT DONATED! This is amazing and truly goes to show the power of social media! Hopefully this is only the beginning of these types of relief efforts since so many other countries are facing the same type of starvation crisis! Watch out for and protect your fellow man instead of trying to ban them. Stop spreading hate, you get more out of love than hate! |
