I know the events of yesterday were overwhelming and just chaotic, but it's gonna be ok and we're going to be ok. I wanted to do this post kind of as a recap and to also move forward. I also feel like the post yesterday isn't organized because there was so much information coming in so quickly, so I wanted to get organized here.

I had already made the decision that I wouldn't do any other posts after the events that have happened today in Charlottesville, but I feel compelled to put this up because it just goes to show that there are more of us living in the present and looking forward to the future, than those who are stuck in the past.
Jim Gray, Mayor of Lexingon, Kentucky, announced in a statement that after seeing the events that took place in Charlottesville, he'll be taking steps to remove 2 Confederate statues from the lawn of what used to be a courthouse. Mayor Gray released a statement saying he'll ask the Lexington-Fayette County Urban County Council @ its Tuesday work session to ask a state military commission for permission to take down the statues of John C. Breckinridge and John Hunt Morgan. Brief thoughts: I know it's been scary seeing everything that took place today in Charlottesville, but I just had to put this brief post up because it just goes to show that there are more of us than there are of them! The disgusting behavior that was displayed today isn't the norm in this country, it won't win in this country, it won't deter the future of this country, and I hope more and more cities and states will follow in the footsteps of the cities before them and tear down these symbols of the past and the darkest times of this country. I hope that more and more cities and states won't allow fear keep us stuck in the past. We will take down these monuments, we will get Trump out of the White House, and we will defeat his followers! |
