I read about this idea that these 2 senators have come up, I thought it was fascinating, so I wanted to share.
Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and James Lankford (R-OK) have come up with this idea of Solution Sundays where people invite other people from different racial background to their homes and break bread with them. The idea was birthed in 2015 after the endless wave of clashes between people of color and law enforcement. Senator Scott said something that I thought was interesting and very true, "For me, it's hard to hate what you know," Scott said. "And it's just so simple. It's hard to hate what you know." The biggest driving force in my opinion behind hate is the lack of knowledge about the thing you hate. For example, you have beef with somebody, you hate their guts, wanna fight them every single time you see them, but then 1 day the both of you grow the hell up and decide to get to know each other and discover that you both have a lot in common. Yes, that's an example from personal experience, but the point is, you never know what you may have in common with another person if you're so caught up in this superficial hate. There are many things that we'll never understand between races, i.e things that certain races go through that other races will never have to worry about, but it's all about awareness and spreading knowledge. For example: A white person will never know or understand the fear that goes through a black person when an officer is behind them, they just can't. Yeah, white people hear about this fear all the time when something happens, but there's a big difference in hearing and learning about something from a random person on tv, than to be face to face with someone and hear them speak. You can see the other person, you can hear their voice, and there's no way that you can deny the experience that that person had, it makes it more real, and dinner is such a personal and intimate thing, you don't just invite anybody to dinner.

Every single day this administration gets dumber and dumber.
Jared Kushner, Trump's son in law and his senior adviser (rolls eyes), will now lead a new office that's responsible for streamlining and overhauling the federal govt. **sighs and shakes my head** Why in the world, does this man keep creating jobs for people that know nothing about governing the people? Then, he wonders why all of the things he keeps trying are denied. This new office will be called the White House Office of American Innovation. Kushner believes that, "the gov't should run like a great American company." Ok, I have no words, all I can do @ this point is laugh. If yall wanted to continue running businesses, then get out of Washington and go do that! Leave governing this country to somebody who truly cares. I guess when nothing has worked thus far and you've come through on none of your promises, you get desperate and will try just about anything to win cause that's what all Trump cares about. He doesn't genuinely care about this country because if he did, he would be surrounding himself with people that know what it takes to run this country and not family member seat fillers. I don't foresee this new office being successful because @ this point Trump and his followers are just throwing ish @ the wall and seeing what'll stick. Welcome to Chapter 3 in the Tough Crowd Chronicles! This chapter is dedicated to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who held a town hall this past Saturday and needless to say it went just like the others! I fully support these town halls, I support these citizens giving this elected officials the business, and anytime 1 comes up, I will most definitely be posting about it! **Below is a video of the entire town hall for your viewing pleasure** Per usual, Graham had to shout over the crowd to voice his opinion, that's what happens when you piss people off! He spoke in front of a largely Democratic voting crowd and he gave us a lot of laughable quotes, let's all giggle together shall we...
It's been a couple days since the senseless killing of Timothy Caughman and a few more details about the events leading up to his death have emerged:
Welcome to part 2 of the Bully in Chief saga! Who's Trump bullying this time? 1st it was the Democrats fault on why TrumpCare failed, now he's going after Conservation lawmakers, and I can't believe I'm about to actually defend Conservatives/Republicans. A little background on the Freedom Caucus: they're a very conservative group of House members who are largely responsible for TrumpCare being blocked.
Trump's displeasure with the Freedom Caucus is so apparent that now some members are resigning. Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) has resigned from the Caucus due to his opposition towards the bill. Here's what he said in his resignation: "In order to deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move this country forward," the Texas Republican said in a statement. "Saying no is easy, leading is hard, but that is what we were elected to do. Leaving this caucus will allow me to be a more effective member of Congress and advocate for the people of Texas. It is time to lead." My thoughts: I'm not surprised that Trump has found somebody else to blame. It would be too much like right for him to accept responsibility to supporting such a terrible piece of legislature and of course the other person he really needs to be blaming he won't (Paul Ryan). Although this Freedom Caucus had their own reasons for stopping the bill, reasons I'm sure are much different than why I'm happy the bill didn't get passed, I commend them for standing up to this asshole, and for sticking up for what they believe in. Do I think Rep. Poe should be resigning? Sure don't. It's almost like good job for sticking to your guns and having the bill blocked, but @ the same time you're letting him win by removing yourself cause stuff is getting hot. I commend him for admitting that people need to come together to find solutions because there's absolutely power in numbers and I also commend him for understanding why he was elected. You're elected to govern the people, you work for the people, you stuck to your guns for the people, and I think him resigning from the Freedom Caucus is kind of a coward move. Now before you all start to bite my head off, I'm very aware that climate change is real (I have common sense). However, Trump and his followers don't believe it is, they lack common sense.
The EPA chief Scott Pruitt went to ABC's This Week and said that Trump is going to sign an executive order to do away with the Clean Power Plan, which was a policy created by Pres Obama to tackle climate change. The Clean Power Plan aims to cut carbon emissions from US power plants. Fun fact: the plan never fully went into effect because the Supreme Court put it on hold so that a judicial review could be done. Pruitt had this to say-->"the Obama administration had a very anti fossil fuel strategy, coal, natural gas, and the rest." He also said Trump's goal is to produce jobs and lowering electrical rates for consumers. Umm...sir that bs budget that you and your team proposed leads us all to believe otherwise about you wanting to create jobs and cut electrical rates. Stop it with the lies! Another thing that's been on my mind when it comes to coal, if Trump really thinks that he can bring the coal industry back (I highly doubt he can) so that these coal miners can have jobs again, I'm all for it, but if not he has got to stop giving these people false hope, and then he needs to start investing in other forms of energy so that these people can go back to work. By no means or stretch of the imagination am I an expert on climate change, but unlike these delusional folks currently in Washington, I do know that it's very real and something needs to be done to try and semi-reverse the damage that's been done. Doing away with plans like this is the complete opposite of what needs to be done in this country and in the world. But, let's not forget, whatever the country really needs Trump and his legion of followers do the opposite. He was just trying to kill everybody by taking away their healthcare, so why in the hell would we expect him to care about clean air? These are the same people that have the facts from people way smarter than them that prove that this is a real thing, but they're still in denial. Just like with the healthcare bill, I'm positive people have seen the posts about the missing girls and women in DC. Well, now the Congressional Black Caucus is asking for a federal investigation to be started, and IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!
The influx in social media posts regarding the missing girls and women have finally caused the mainstream media to pay attention. So much so, that now the lawmakers from the Caucus have asked AG Jeff Sessions and FBI Director James Comey to "devote the resources necessary to determine whether these developments are an anomaly or whether they're indicative of an underlying trend that must be addressed. When children of color go missing, authorities often assume they're runaways rather than victims of abduction," the Caucus said in a letter to Sessions, who's now looking into the issue. Excuse me? 14 girls went missing in a span of 24 hrs and we're gonna look @ this to see if it's an anomaly or an underlying issue? The hell? 14 people just disappearing off the face of the Earth in such a short amount of time is definitely not an anomaly! It's an indicator that something in the city is going on and whatever is going on is clearly targeting women of color. I'm willing to play devil's advocate just a little, sure I'll say maybe 1 or 2 of the missing might've run away, but there's no way in hell you can convince me that some sort of human trafficking or kidnapping isn't going on. The new Commander of the Washington Metro Police Dept has said the number of missing girls has decreased overall, but social media has brought more awareness to the issue. There have been 501 cases of missing children so far in 2017 and there are currently 22 open cases. **Regardless of increase or decrease, 1 missing child/woman/person is a big problem. Another big thing to remember in these cases, all of these girls and women have disappeared and not 1 amber alert was sent out. Think about that and think about the Amber alert notifications you get, think about the description of the children normally included in these Amber alerts. I don't think that's a coincidence @ all. I think these girls and women have been deemed runaways and if they're families wanna come forward to file missing person's reports, that's how the police is going to handle these cases. As you all probably know by now, (I made a couple posts on my Instagram...bellarosa421) the big vote on TrumpCare was a bust! Republicans and their ring leader Paul Ryan pulled the bill before it was even voted on! How embarrassing!!
"This is a disappointing day for us, doing big things is hard. All of us, myself included, will need time to reflect on how we got to this moment, what we could have done to do it better," Ryan said during a press conference after he told Trump that they wouldn't have enough votes to pass the bill and after the bill was pulled. Let's start here-->You got to this point by being disgusting, vile, out of touch human beings. You tried to take away people's healthcare and really thought that people were going to take that ish laying down! No sir! Weren't expecting people to finally wake the hell up and actually voice their thoughts and opinions and oppose yours huh? Moving forward... Trump **rolls eyes** has since come forward and said that Democrats are the ones to blame for how things turned out. **sighs and shakes head** "Obamacare is exploding. With no Democratic support, we couldn't quite get there. We were just a very small number of votes short in terms of getting our bill passed. I'm disappointed. I'm a little surprised to be honest with you." Let's stop here--> What the hell is wrong with this man? I mean seriously! Sir, maybe you haven't been paying attention this whole time. You and your party didn't need a single Democrat vote to pass this piece of garbage legislature into law. NOT A SINGLE ONE! So, please enlighten us on how this is the Democrats fault. We got what we wanted, we want people to have their healthcare cause that's a basic human right. He keeps saying that Obamacare is exploding...where, it's more popular than ever, so is it exploding with popularity? And hell, I'd be disappointed to if I keep losing after making outlandish promises for months! What're you surprised for? Clearly, he doesn't watch news programs that reach more than just his target demographic because if he had, he would've heard about Republicans who could've cared less about this bill, and he would've heard from the attendees of these town halls that made their lawmakers aware of how dire thing would be if they didn't have their health insurance. Now everybody, don't be fooled, just because they're letting healthcare go for right now, doesn't mean that they're not gonna eventually come back to it. This is gonna be a battle from both sides that's gonna go on til the end of time cause neither side is ever gonna be 100% satisfied with whatever healthcare bills come our way. Republicans are committed to repealing it, Trump is committed to continuing his bullying efforts in order to get a plan that would suit him. This is not a time to get comfortable, a mini celebration is ok, but please not for 1 second believe that this is over. Trump now wants to move on to tax reform...let's go, get ready. There's been a big update in the murder of Laquan McDonald and I definitely wanted to update you guys. *A quick heads up, I included the dash cam footage from the events of that evening, it's very graphic, this is your caution warning before viewing it* James Van Dyke, the Chicago officer that shot and killed Laquan has been indicted on 16 new criminal charges, adding to the 6 counts of 1st degree murder he's already facing. The additional charges are of aggravated battery with a fireman and these 16 counts for each of the 16 shots that he fired @ Laquan. On the night Laquan was shot and killed back in October of 2014, dash cam video showed Laquan walking away from the police that had gathered, Van Dyke jumped out of his vehicle, and pulled his gun shooting Laquan only 6 seconds after arriving on the scene....think about that for a minute, without even gauging the situation, this guy started firing his weapon in 6 seconds. Van Dyke continued to fire weapon, unloading every round in 15 seconds. Laquan was hit with each and every bullet, even after he was already on the ground. Let's really put that into perspective, it took him 6 seconds to make the decision to shoot Laquan. He fired 16 bullets in less than 15 seconds, that's less than a second between each round. If you think your life is really in danger, why not just fire 1 round to diffuse the situation, why are 16 bullets in less than 15 seconds necessary? That is excessive, no matter how you look @ it. Van Dyke said he opened fire after Laquan lunged @ him "swinging the knife in an aggressive, exaggerated manner," and ignored orders to drop the knife. He also said Laquan continued gripping the knife, pointing it @ Van Dyke as he tried to get up from the ground. His partner and 4 other officers backed up his claims and said Laquan continued to advance towards them while waving the knife. Sounds like a legit reason to fear for your life right? Sure, however, none of the bs that these officers said actually happened and the dash cam proved that. Clearly Van Dyke, forgot that squad cars are rigged with dash cams, so that when situations like these happen, you don't just have to take somebody's word for it, you go back to the footage, because the footage does not lie. Also, if you remember, it took 400 days for the dash cam footage to be made available to the public, a judge ordered the release of the footage in November 2015. There was a big uproar, as there should've been, once the footage was released because it confirmed what the public already knew. It confirmed that these people in these law enforcement positions, lied about the events that led to this young man losing his life. Van Dyke is the 1st officer in Chicago that's been charged with 1st degree murder since 1980. He has plead not guilty and his next court appearance will be on April 20. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison. #sayhisname Well, he hasn't come through on much, but unfortunately he's coming through on this.
Back in January before the lingering scent of Pres Obama was even fully gone out the White House, Trump signed an executive order to advance the approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The State Dept signed off today on the pipeline. Tom Shannon, the State Dept's undersecretary for political affairs signed off on the TransCanadian permit. This approval will allow the Canadian company to complete construction on pipeline facilities @ the US-Canadian border in Phillips County, Montana and will carry oil from the tar sands of Canada to Nebraska where it'll connect with other pipelines down to the Gulf of Mexico. This portion of the pipeline will actually require federal approval because it crosses an international border. The State Dept believes this project will create 42,000 (temporary) jobs including 3,900 construction jobs if the pipeline is built in a year. Interesting part, only 50 permanent jobs will be kept to maintain the pipeline. Sidenote: thought we were supposed to be creating permanent jobs in this country. Environment groups have heavily opposed this project for years. It's believed that the pipeline will create an increase of 17% more greenhouse gases than standard crude oil extraction. Also, the pipeline would cut across the Ogallala Aquitar, which is the world's largest underground deposits of fresh water. AKA this pipeline is going to be bad for climate change and bad for our environment, but climate change and environmental changes are fake news, so of course this isn't an issue to Trump and his administration! |
